Matthysse can get better, I think he needs a better trainer. After finding himself in a hole against Molina he fought with the kind of urgency that could have gotten him knocked out, Molina is too slow to be getting caught up in a firefight with him. Matthysse needs to switch his angles up close, although he beat the crap out of Molina when he cornered him he was exposed to counters that Garcia will once again expose.

I don't think he's close to washed up, but....and with all due respect to John Molina -- that performance didn't reflect well on Matthysse. At all.

Matthysse never was a invincible KO machine.

Every time he stepped up to world class level the invincible KO machine was nowhere to be seen barring Peterson.

He's just a prime example of a bunch of forum nerds who were trying to look like cool hipsters by making this guy out to be some sort of unstoppable machine, even though he'd at the time already been figured out by a shot Zab Judah and Alexander.

No hate towards Matthysse, the guy is a warrior and i love watching his fights. Total respect from me. However he's a great example of when trying to look cool on the internet goes wrong.

As will the next ones whoever they turn out to be, the likes of Thurman/GGG etc.

When they lose/get exposed their bunch of cool hipster fanboys who are right now proclaiming them to be the new invincible KO machines will run along onto the next one.

No he isn't he fought a good fight and came back very strong. He's still a handful for everyone. I don't see why people want to discredit this win. He didn't look indestructible, that's correct, but who thought he was? No one is. He met a crafty fighter with an incredible beard and still outfought him and looked extremely strong in the last 3 rounds.

As Roy pointed out, he was overhyped by a few people on this board, but it doesn't mean he is not the real deal, because he is. Ofcourse if he meets a top boxer, he'll lose but against any mid-level boxer and top-level brawler he'll win.

Here's the first problem, people thinking his an invincible machine in the first place.

90% of this forum thought he was up until the Garcia fight.

Many even carried on with it after the Garcia fight.

If his eye wasn't shut doe.

No he's human. I think with more training and fine tuning his skills he will be better

He's not washed up. He just ran into a guy with a very strong right hand that would drop any 140lber in my opinion.
