thats a tough set of guys (with such comp you are OLD at 37) if you have a weaker set of opponents you can last longer............tougher comp equals shorter career. weaker comp = longer career...........

    next...............
Nope... staying in shape for every single fight & not getting hit as often equals a longer fighting shelf life.. Lewis isn't in a Klitschko's or Holyfield's league when it comes to using no excuses for being in shape & obviously Lewis got hit a lot including 160 times at the hands of Klitschko.... look at all Vitali's opponents that have been hit 160 times... they're all retired... visited a hospital or facing tomatoe cans just to further finances.

He had a long hard career. Same with Moore, Holyfield, Hopkins etc. There's a lot of examples as to why your analogy doesn't work.

first of all...........holyfield is greater then lewis. don't put holyfield in the same category as your average heavyweight (he's obviously a great heavyweight & a freak of nature to do what he's done) both Klitschkos have very weak comp when compared to these 2 guys (vitali being the weakest) do you really think wlad would have As long as a career if he had holyfields schedule or lewis? boxing is not just about being in shape (theres a bunch of in shape guys who take beatings) being in shape is a part of it. it's also the level of comp that you're consistently fighting over and over again........that will break your body down. and if it doesn't. you're just a freak show & you're just one of the very greats. but you could never prove that fighting **** comp............

Really? One top 15 atg and Big George? That's your barometer. You must not rate many guys at all.

moore holyfield & hopkins are obviously freak shows (their exceptions) & their all around great fighters. you're taking the exception and trying to apply it to the rule. (hopkins fighting tough comp and then fighting on into his 50's is an exception) not everyone can do that.............most actually can't.

now if lewis was fighting weaker guys I'm sure he would have been a hell of a lot better off & many fighters would have a much greater chance at lasting.

Boy that would be significant if boxing didn't have such a thing as a stoppage.

Lewis did fight some fairly weak guys like Rahman and McCall for instance.
