    It's really that simple.
Please show me which part of my post says that money and safety should be removed from the sport.

A true boxing fan should want the best fights imo, I see too many posters on this forum saying that boxing is a business first so fighters should be trying to earn money instead of fighting the best fights out there.

Boxing is a combat sport, it isnt meant to be safe.
Ideally, the best fighters and the biggest money are synonymous. Not all the time, but most of the time.

I hardly post here, since I've been a reader than talker here but how on earth can you say that "boxing should come first, NOT money or safety"? You know the better the competition the higher the risk of getting hurt is. Here's an example, if Pacquiao would've fought some cab driver rather than Marquez, Pacquiao would've been one killer punch short to his brain. Each boxer's fight could very much be their last, so money is very important for them as is their safety which should be compensated via money.

Money isnt always the main factor for great fights being made.

The most recent one made which isnt solely for money is Canelo v Lara.

This is the way boxing should be
I kinda understand what you're saying and wish we did have more situations like Canelo vs Lara where they're fighting for bragging rights and not just money because it would make boxing a little bit more exciting.

That being said, I don't fault fighters for trying to get every last dime they can because each fight can be their last. Like someone else already stated, if you dont' like a certain fighter then don't buy or watch their fights. If enough people feel the same way then they'll get the point.

So it is fine by you for great fighters to fight substandard competition and milk money from delusional and casual fans instead of fighting the best fighters out there?

Im pretty sure that when a boxer starts boxing that he expects to be punched and even knocked out.

In any professional sport one must attempt to be the very best they can be, that is why they get paid lots of money.

Safety should always come first, period.

Second, money is the only reason we have professional fights. Don't like that fighters are trying to get paid? Go watch amateur boxing, man. They fight for free, check it out!

Sure, back in the day, fighters fought more often, fought the highest ranked contenders more often, and were less concerned about health and big paydays.

And you know what else? 95% of those guys died ****ing broke and physically damaged from their years in the ring with nothing to show for all their years of work.

Fighters today have to look out for their health and financial interests, because years and years of seeing fighters that came before them getting ****ed over made them realize that no one is looking out for them.

It's up to the fighter (and his team) to try to make the most money and take their careers as far as they can. HBO aint looking out for them, neither are their promoters. If you think fighters should be in it for the "glory" only, go watch amateur boxing.

Everything is always about money. Canelo-Lara is no exception.

Canelo's fans are always going to support him, he has a strong enough fanbase to draw on his own. He could've fought Kermit Cintron again and he would've made decent money.

Real boxing fans outside of his followers wouldn't have supported it though.

With Lara, even though he doesn't have that sort of fanbase, he's viewed as someone Canelo didn't want to fight and there's a genuine rivalry there. The fight has juice in the industry and with hardcore fans, and that juice gives it the opportunity to reach further into the casual fan demo. Don't know the numbers for Canelo-Angulo, but I predict if this fight is PPV it will at least equal those numbers.

Not like Canelo has a Floyd, Manny, GGG or Chavez fight available to him at this moment either.

If their main concern in life is safety then they should never of taken up boxing and went into golf instead.

Boxing is a combat sport, its meant to be bloody and violent.

The problem with that fanboy mentality is that these guys are doing it for a living. They aren't gladiators, heroes, or whatever fantasy you've made them out to be. They're guys making a living, just like the rest of us. How often do you do a heroic act at your job and put the company above your money and safety?? Yea, thought so....
