So for all those so called "boxing fans" who think that a boxer's bank account and safety is more important then the best fighting the best please go and do us all a favour and watch a safe sport like golf.
A true boxing fan should want the best fights imo, I see too many posters on this forum saying that boxing is a business first so fighters should be trying to earn money instead of fighting the best fights out there.
Boxing is a combat sport, it isnt meant to be safe.
If a fighter wants to take the easier fights, high financial rewards for low risk, than that is his choice. Boxing is very dangerous. Also offers no 401k plan, fighters get cheated, etc...
But i'm not gonna pay for any crap PPVs or go get tix for a mismatch. Mayweather against Guerrero was a crap matchup, so I didn't buy it. I streamed it because it was not worthy of a PPV purchase and I don't want to support mismatches. Mayweather against Cotto was a decent matchup and I didn't mind going to a bar and paying money to watch it.
money is #1. boxing is prize fighting. Safety must be weighed with money as a factor. the money should be worth the risk.
after many years I AM NOW ok with floyd duckin pac or anyone else dangerous like Lara because he has an undefeated record. No undefeated record, no "Money May".
imagine if Floyd didnt have that ZERO....hes not selling PPVs due to his style so he needs to cultivate a brand - loud mouth, larger than life persona.
no one is paying 70 dollars to watch just anyone run around the ring avoiding shots for 12 rounds....NO ONE. Sorry.
Sweet Pea wouldnt be a PPV draw in today's world because he wasnt UNDEFEATED and already a loss earlier in his career before he reached his peak.
So NFL or rugby players wont lay a score saving tackle because they may get hurt of injure themselves?
They will lay that tackle with no regard to their safety because that is what is expected of them in the sport.
And yes, they make their living off that sport but risk been put in a wheelchair every time they walk out on the field.
Calculated and controlled risk is not the same as putting your safety on the back burner. Don't make childishly absurd analogies to overstate your weak argument. The fact that you've made an ass of yourself across 10 pages tells me that you wouldn't begin to understand the real world application of this subject.
People kill me with this ****...Boxing is a fighters job, their career, their profession...tell me when in the hell is money and health not the most important thing...at your job do you not get paid and have health insurance??? We hear these stories everyday how boxers end up broke when they retire...do posters like OP send money to help?? no they say "oh i payed money to see them fight it is their fault" in other words **** em right??? so now fighters are getting smarter and saying **** you 1st and i for one am not mad..it is about time fighters get about thier money and look after their health so they aint slurring and to ****** to count their own money
