Actually, Garcia's case looks like a loser to me, and I've been involved in plenty of contract negotiations, as well as an Ali case action. Nothing they allege in their complaint is a prohibited activity by a "promoter". They are alleging that TR is acting as a "manager", but nothing in the complaint backs up that assertion. The only thing even debatable is the "10% revenue" issue, but thats a loser because I guarantee you TR never took 10% or Garcia's contracted purse amounts, and what Garcia is probably referring to here is the entire event gross receipts, like somehow that should all be his money or something and TR took more than 10% of the entire event proceeds.

As a "promoter", TR is legally permitted to approve / decline opponents, set fight dates / locations, negotiate site / tv deals, etc, etc. As a matter of fact, one of the main balancing acts in boxing is finding opponents/purses that BOTH the promoter AND manager can ultimately agree to, because promoters and managers have different priorities.

I will say that there is one valid common complaint when it comes to Ali Act violations that could likely be true, and that would be if TR did not accurately disclose to Garcia how much money TR was getting from HBO for Garcia's fights. That is a legitimate claim, and if true, its a problem for TR. But the "acting as a manager" stuff is nonsense......

He's right.... Donaire made 1.32 million to fight Rigo who made 750k

On the other side, LSC made the most with 500k on a PPV
Comparing what Leo Santa Cruz makes fighting the smallest guy you know to what the fighters in one of the biggest fights of last year made seems imbalanced.

I don't think Arum has never been sued by a fighter and lost. Lets see how this goes.

This. Not to mention Leo is the most unproven out of the bunch

I think the entire Robert Garcia camp is fed up with Arum, Arum is stopping fights from happening that the fighters i.e. Mikey and Rios wants. I remember seeing a ellie video where rios and robert garcia was talking **** about arum saying they dont know why he doing that/saying that it aint his fucking job and rios went on to say thats why I have cameron for, why the fuck am I paying him for then.

According to @linusesq (a lawyer), the whole manager/promoter distinction from California law is moot because Mikey's contract said they would use Nevada law.

I agree, it seems as though they're getting fed up with TR meanwhile they're happy with the way GBP is doing things so far, especially with Maidana.

I'm not surprised in the least that Steve Kim is already taking Top Rank's side. Shill.

Oh dang... evidently he's (Mikey) trying to use the California labor law like ward...but I'm sure he signed an extension at some point
