Garcia says Top Rank didn't disclose the total income it receive for 17 different fights. It would be one thing if they asked and didn't get the information, but they obviously did not give a damn if they didn't get it for 17 straight fights. The lawsuit makes no mention of Garcia requesting the info, which I would think would be an important point to mention if they did have numerous requests. It only states that Arum didn't provide it. That just just looks like a weasily after the fact reason to get out of contract.

typically, (at least in all my dealings with Golden boy, Shaw. and King), there is an Ali Act disclosure that the fighter signs when getting their purse check. If TR doesnt have the signed copies to prove they disclosed, then Garcia likely prevails (at least on that issue)Garcia says Top Rank didn't disclose the total income it receive for 17 different fights. Yeah, I get that it's in the Ali Act, and Arum may have infant violated it. But what I'm saying, whether legally correct or not, is that principle behind Garcia invoking it all of a sudden to get out of a contract is pretty wack if Garcia didn't give a damn about it in the first place.typically, (at least in all my dealings with Golden boy, Shaw. and King), there is an Ali Act disclosure that the fighter signs when getting their purse check. I would have to venture a guess that Top Rank has such papers signed even if Garcia didn't know what he was signing, I can't imagine Top Rank slipping up on a paperwork issue.typically, (at least in all my dealings with Golden boy, Shaw. and King), there is an Ali Act disclosure that the fighter signs when getting their purse check. Still with any lawsuit like this it is pretty much throw all the **** at a wall you can and hope something sticks.
It sounds like a case of Garcia needing better representation really and Top Rank taking some liberties because of him lacking anyone to really watch out for his interests.Comment

I thought the California Labor Law is moot if they signed extensions? Kind of like Ward right now and how he can't get out of GoosenComment

Anyway, that pdf contains Mikey Garcia's contract with Top Rank. I've never seen a boxer's contract in it's entirety anywhere online. I haven't gotten to it yet, but I've always wondered how it all worked. Gonna be an interesting read.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 04-16-2014, 12:26 AM.Comment
