I'm a Martinez and GGG fan more than a Chavez fan but he IS a good fighter.

I rather enjoyed watching him getting on his bicycle in the last round of the Vera fight - to me it proves that it's easier to have an outside stlye and run, much harder to cut of the ring so effectively like he does.

I mean lets face it guys anyone can fight like Ward or Hopkins or Rigo if they dedicate themselves to that, but who wants to be a fan of a *****?

Chavez good fighter, haters and boxing fans who mistake his easy attitude for skill don't know **** about boxing honestly.

If he could hang with Martinez while smoking up during training imagine what he is really capable of...

Chavez has all the weapons to be a good fighter, but not the ammunition.

You need talent and drive in order to be great.

I got it the other way around. Chevez isn't polished enough and Matinez isn't getting any younger, keeps his hands glued to his waist and G will take advantage of that.

G has good KO power to play with the big boys. I just hope we see him step up in comp. and prove himself.

Chavez Sr. was a very good fighter. Chavez Jr is a hype job riding the name of a legend.

i agree, hes strong and tough and a great inside fighter. On the inside he has good defense (for an offensive fighter) with tight hands and moves his head.

Jrs skillset is sorely lacking. Contrary to what you think, he has almost zero movement. He also has no jab and very leaky defense. Combine that with his lack of dedication and it's hard to imagine him actually beating any top shelf fighters.

People dislike him because: 1) he got the nod on a couple of close decisions (Molina,Zbik). 2) his lack of dedication to training- the silver spoon effect. 3) the vile scumbags at the WBC actually ripped their version of the middleweight belt from an established champion (Martinez) so they could outright give it to Jr (their countryman). 4) he comes in grossly overweight for a fight vs a second rate journeyman (Vera), then needs a robbery decision just to get a W. 4) Jr has never, ever clearly beat a top shelf fighter and never will.

It will be interesting to see if Jr. is really dedicated now that he has a daughter. Or if that was only a one time thing.
