The same can be said of a lot of fighters.

Became a world champion just training in his living room. The definition of a great fighter.

Agreed he has overachieved for being the son of a legendary fighter. He's a decent fighter but nowhere near a very good fighter. He's received multiple gift decisions against sub-par competition.

I've never been impressed with his boxing skills nor do I think he does anything above average other than taking shots to the face. I'll admit he's made great improvements since watching him in his early fights but he's nowhere near elite.

Chavvez Jr. is ok..He needs to find out what kinda fighter he's going to be tho and ride with it..It seems as if he does not know if he wants to be the boxer or the brawler..Funny thing is he has good inside fight skills..IMO the inside fighter is what he should be,esp at MW..If he can go all in on this kinda style,I really think he can be successful in the sport..

The idea that Chavez is some relentless juggernaught is hilarious, the guy is so inactive, he covers up a lot of the time doing nothing, its why a terrible fighter like Lee was beating him. Golovkin should destroy this guy.

I'm astonished at the praise this guy gets. He's a big stiff idiot who plods forward and tries to big man his opponents. He came up against a guy who is streetwise in Martinez and got his face smashed to bits for 11 rounds.

I wouldn't call Chavez Jr. a very good fighter. He is a legitimate, world class fighter. However, he has average power for his size and can get a bit wild and swinging. He also isn't that good at cutting off the ring. When he's in shape, he's pretty good. But he doesn't come across as smart or versatile. He's good enough to win paper belts and maybe beat some top 10 contenders. He's good enough to establish himself possibly at a top 5 fighter in some divisions. But he's not at that elite level. If Chavez Jr.'s dedication was better, he'd have real potential.

At middleweight his size and chin made him a world class fighter.

Other than that he really doesnt do much thats impressive.

I will say though, he looks like he would have been reasonably good if he'd started boxing at a young age. He seems to have decent natural timing and a hell of a chin

True, but Chavez more than most. He doesn't do anything very well. He is just able to take punches because of his size and have more on his own punches because of his size.
