It shows he can actually fight on the backfoot, like physically do it. We haven't seen that from Golovkin (in the last couple of years). Chavez will go backwards in this fight but he's shown he can fight going backwards which works in his favour.

As an aside, Vera-Chavez 1 was a close fight, Chavez wasn't in shape.

What Maravilla did against Chavez that was so very smart, is that he utilized his superior speed advantage? He kept the fight on the outside, while boxing and moving both his hands and feet exceptionally well in the process. He was never a stationary target; Thereby making him very hard to catch cleanly, while off offsetting JCC, Jr timing and keeping him off balanced in the process.

My biggest concern is that if GGG attempts to keep this fight in the trenches by trading punches toe to toe, then he will be fighting Julio's kind of fight; All the while running the risk of being eventually worn down by accumulation and attrition, the longer the fight goes; Given that JCC, Jr is naturally larger and stronger of the two.
Not when he's going to be hit to the body like never before. He doesn't have the tools to utilize his size advantage. And regardless what people think, I don't think he's that strong of a puncher. You can tell when Gennady lands, his muscles are much more developed and I think he has overall more strength.

He took a lot of body shots from Martinez. I think the count was something like 80 body shots. So he's taken a brutal beating to the body before. I suppose the major difference is Martinez didn't go to his liver the way Golovkin will. Chavez is certainly a respectable puncher. He's just not a huge puncher. Golovkin may hit harder than Chavez, but I doubt he is physically stronger. What would be real interesting is if Chavez went to Golovkin's body.

I see your point. GGG has had to be in a postion to have to exclusively fight on the back foot for an extended period as a pro. Like Cotto had to when he couldn't over power fighters. Or Chavez Jr.

In the Ams he fought a lot off his backfoot. He was loved to wait and counter. He showed it vs guys like Dirrell.

I think if he had to he could turn that back on. But so far he seems to only back up to find a way to get back on the front foot. No doubt it's Abel's influence.

True but the way Golovkin goes to the body is much harder than Martinez, which is why he has many more body shot stoppages. I'm expecting Chavez to go to the body, but they'll be more retaliatory shots in response to Golovkin hitting him first and most likely harder. GGG's up and down work I think is just going to be too much. His uppercuts are going to be especially important.

You need to see an eye's speciallist: "the longer the fight goes, JCC, Jr is only going to get stronger"
What t/% 8()%$$?????, when in the hell the longer the fight goes, JCC was got stronger???? with Vera???? 1 or 2??, Martinez??? He doesn't trow punches until the last 30 seconds and he get tired rapidly. That guy is just a Bum. The more fight gets longer jr will get tired, I really don't see him enduring the 12 rounds, in 6 rounds you will see him brathing through the mouth.
