Does this mean we get Ward vs Kovalev?

Kovalev has just been overtly ducked by Adonis.

Ward still has no fight lined up. Chavez jr. fights GGG. Froch fights Groves. Kessler is retired. So there's noone at 168.

So surely this means that Ward fights Kovalev at 175 right?

I hope it "surely" means that. More likely it means we dream that we get it.

There's really no reason Ward shouldn't take the fight.

It won't happen straight away atleast.

          Probably wants another "warm up".

Of course. When you fight once a year you need another warm up the next year. Maybe by 2020 he'll have warmed up enough to fight a big fight again.

The thing is that Ward likely has to face Kashtonov if he wants to stay alphabet champ at 168. Since that fight has very little appeal a move up to face Kovalev to me seems like the best choice for Ward. If he elects to continue his career between the ropes that is.

Ward will duck him. These guys are supposed to be champions and legends but they do no live up to their billing.

Looks to me that Kovalev could be one of the biggest punchers in the history of boxing.

Man Ward wood whoop dat wack whiteass chump! He a slick bruva! Das wah da fight shouldn't even happen yo, Ward bout dat binnis

....will be one of the excuses we hear

Seriously though, intriguing fight, Kovalev hasn't fought anyone near Ward's level yet, and I can picture Ward giving him a boxing lesson. But I wouldn't object to this fight.
