Like I said, Schaefer is nothing without Hoya's name. He's a mystery. He lacks diplomatic skills. Unlike Arum, he can't do ambush interviews. He has many things to hide. He has no connections. He can't do nothing without using money. Unfortunately for him, money doesn't grow on Showtime's backyard as he came to find out. HBO had deeper pockets.

This is why Richard and Haymon are timing their break, they will latch onto Mayweathers name. Without a big name their promotion won't succeed.Like I said, Schaefer is nothing without Hoya's name. They will no longer need Oscar, Richard has a history of doing this. He will only kiss ass when he has to, but once he gets power he will talk **** and abuse it. When Floyd retired he kissed Arums butt and made up because he knew Pacman was the star and future, so he only did business with Arum because of it. Also Arum had Cotto and Pavlik and Margarito these guys were the bigger draws Golden boy had nothing left when Floyd retired, when Floyd came out of retirement Richard than started talking shi1t because his cash cow came back he no longer felt he needed to be cordial to Arum.
He will do the same to Oscar, Mayweathers name carries more weight currently than Oscar's. They will probably use Mayweather as the face of the new promotion while Rich and Haymon are the masterminds, Floyd worships Haymon and likes Richard so he will be the new puppet.Comment

I think that's exactly what's happening. It became obvious with Haymon's signing spree. Say what you will about Haymon and Schaefer, but they aren't dumb guys and I'd bet on them outmaneuvering Oscar in a power struggle/split scenarioThis is why Richard and Haymon are timing their break, they will latch onto Mayweathers name. Isn't Oscar the owner? I think he would get all fighters. If and when....
The question with any split is who will get the kids? In this case, if it does happen, we will wonder who will get the fighters? Will court battles tie up all the fighters and keep them inactive til the terms of the separation are settled?
But that question only applies "if" it happens.Comment

Rick Glaser, the guy who I think originally broke the hoya/schaefe rumor, is claiming GBP has never turned a profit, and that's the main problem.
@alex_z28 Alex, incorrect, the investors see all these fights,& yearly GBP has never turned a profit, ever! That is the root of the problem.

this is all just wild speculation on my part I have no inside sources....I believe Haymon to be highly intelligent, ruthless, a great business mind and more than all of these, extremely ambitious....
Hopefully this leads to Al / Mayweather / Schaefer along with Arum / HBO and Golden Boy and Showtime / Espinoza all working together along with NBC and ESPN. Hopefully we get tons of interesting fights out of this and the sport of boxing grows because of it. However I see Haymon as the type of man unwilling to settle for that. I see him as the type of man that wants to entirely control boxing, top to bottom.
Oscar can find another Schaefer and probably has fifty guys that can take a place and do just as good a job. I am unimpressed by Schaefer. Haymon, I don't think, is going to hide behind Mayweather promotions. I think he will control Mayweather promotions and Floyd, and use it to make SOME shows, to appease Floyd and keep him on his side, while Floyd remains the biggest player in boxing for the next few years. Haymon will have his own separate company with his name, that he runs. Schaefer will be the mouthpiece.
I think Haymon will force his way onto BOTH Showtime AND HBO at the same time, attempting to take out what is left of GBP AND Bob Arum all at once. He will keep buying up fighters and controlling dates on Showtime, HBO, NBC and ESPN.
Bob and Oscar will start working together, but even pooling their resources it may not stop the avalanche.
I speculate further that Schaefer will be let go and rudely dismissed by Haymon in three years or so after Haymon seizes control of everything. That he can distance himself from all the nastiness that Schaefer has spewed forth and clean up the company image.Comment

This is not hard to see.
I think it became worse when Pederson and Berto's fight got cancelled because of the PEDs issue. It went on a downward spiral after that.
Don't even mention the Mayweather fights. GBP don't profit from these fights. Schaefer is just a slave to Mayweather's whims.Last edited by al-Xander; 03-19-2014, 04:29 PM.Comment
