A lot comes down to AEG, they control most of the venues where GBP holds fights and the guy that owns that company is worth more than Oscar, Schaeffer, Haymon, Floyd and Arum (just throwing him in for good measure) combined.

I don't think that is a fight Schaeffer wants to start, and he is invested in GBP so Schaeffer making a play that hurts that investment is suspect because he is smart enough to know that is a bad idea. Unless.......

If push comes to shove and AEG is backing Schaeffer's play Oscar probably gets bought out because it is much simpler, the same being true for the reverse but I would imagine either way they would have some kind of non-compete.

Arum in return threatened to take his stable and pacquiao to Showtime and then HBO let their leash out with Golden boy and gave TopRank an equal amount of dates. Things were OK for a while and then GBP then tried to corner HBO again by threatening to sign Canelo on showtime trying to arm twist HBO over Dates Top Rank already had signed. It caused enough bad blood that HBO finally said enough is enough.

If you look back, GBP became greedy and aggressive with everyone they worked with in an attempt to drive Top Rank (and others) out of business. They kept spending while Arum just started running more lean. Arum is still signing young fighters while the meat of GBP's stable is getting older. It will get interesting over the next couple years, regardless if Oscar takes control back or not.
Schaefer/Haymon are of the Mayweather mentality that money grow on network trees. They probably even think that HBO was cheating them and not declaring real PPV numbers. (Just to think that Berto was getting $1 million per fight fighting bums.) Now team Haymon/Schaefer are in for a huge awakening at Showtime, where pockets are not that deep.

all i've heard are just hear say. i think dela hoya wants to honestly reconnect with hbo and arum. now the problem is that GBP is the main source of talent for showtime. without it, the show would just collapse. probably the executives at showtime are the ones urging shcaeffer not to deffer and block off any attempts to showcase any talent at hbo but dela hoya has other plans.
