No boxer is a household name in the USA

    Floyd barely makes the mainstream..

I own a few bars/restaurants and rental homes and nobody I know follows boxing... Had a party last Saturday and we watched UFC and Danny Garcia fight, and literally no one knew any boxers, and one person knew Floyd...
Weird thing is that at the bars if I'm on premise, I turn boxing on if it's broadcast and a lot of people like it, but still bring up camacho, Duran, Leonard, Those seem to be what people know of boxing, especially camacho. People bring him up all the time

lol what? I've never seen Thurman hurt. He got caught with a huge shot against Karass early on when he was off balance but he reacted well after initially taking an awkward step. He put his hands straight down and invited more pressure. That's not a sign of somebody who's hurt.

Against Chaves, he took some big shots and reacted well.

Anybody who thinks Thurman, Bradley, etc are household names are very delusional..

Boxing fans may know them and that's it

They are nowhere near as popular and known as hagler, Frazier, Leonard, camacho Duran

Young fans think that Bradley and company are huge names, but years ago, boxers were on that tiger woods, Michael Jordan level and everyone knew them

Matthysse is an average sized LWW, don't think he should move up to WW tbh.
No doubt Thurman hits hard but he's not used to being in the ring with guys with that kind of power in Maidana and Provodnikov. Maybe Thurman has more power than both of those guys but I don't think he can take a punch nearly as well as Maidana or Provodnikov.

What makes you say that? According to people in Argentina, Diego Chaves hits harder than Maidana and Matthysse and Thurman took his punches well.

And Maidana's punch resistance isn't particularly good, he's been down plenty of times.

No way he becomes household by next year. I just don't see it. Fights are already scheduled through June of this year and he isn't on the docket. If you want to raise your profile quickly (a year's time) you need to either be very active (GGG 2013/Donaire 2012 model) or put together a couple devastating statement type wins over high profile opponents. I cant see him doing either...

The question I have about him is how long can he stay at 147? The way it's looking he might get ducked out of the division. He's due for a title shot (WBA I think) but if Floyd wins it in May, they aren't going to sell us a Money May vs. One Time bout. If he destroys the next guy he is able to get at 147, I think it'll be even harder for him. These dudes are shook.

Why you trying so hard to hype up the flavor of the week. Nothing special, will be exposed soon, and you guys will move on to the next one.

We'll have to wait and see how he does against B level competition first...
