The point is, top 10 p4p are those guys who have impeccable slates and their victories resulted in unquestionable conquests.Originally posted by wmuteduran became lightweight champ in 72.
in 81 he became welter weight champ (after dominating 135 for 7 years) by beating sugar ray leonard. then he lost the rematch, moved to 154 got KOed by hearns. moved to 160 and gave a close fight to hagler.
that is not top notch p4p for you?
seriuosly I don't know how much more can you ask:
this would have been like marvin hagler not losing to leonard, moving up to light heavy faces michael spinks for the title and winning, but then losing in a rematch. then losing and winning a few fights before being KOed by holyfield at cruiser and finally giving a run for his money to tyson at heavyweight.
A guy who loses to just about every nemesis he had in his career is not deserving of that spot.
Duran is HOF no doubt, but people here are a bit delusional if they think a guy who loses to a Hagler, get KTFO by Hearns and humiliated by Ray deserves top10 p4p.Comment

OK fine fair point, name the ten fighters or more who deserve to be above him and why?
If he had stuck at Lightweight he could have gone on cemented his career relatively easily but he chose the harder path, Leonard (who he beat) Hagler and Hearns were boxing legends in their own right, but Duran took the gamble in moving up into there weight divisions and fighting at their level!Comment

From reading some of your posts, you seem like a person whom remembers some of the greatest fighters for their losses, not their conquests. Do you remember Tito as a great welter or a fighter whom lost to a veteran middleweight in B-hop? Do you remember RJJ as a great Middleweight or as the fighter whom was knocked out twice at 175? How about Tyson, do you remember him as a great at all? He lost everytime he was faced with adversity. When remembering ones legacy, one must remember how great they were, concentrating on the downfall of ones career will only tarnish a fighters legacy.Originally posted by JoartCCThe point is, top 10 p4p are those guys who have impeccable slates and their victories resulted in unquestionable conquests.

no the point is that if you consider the following as the nemesis of a natural 135 past his primeOriginally posted by JoartCCThe point is, top 10 p4p are those guys who have impeccable slates and their victories resulted in unquestionable conquests.

1) a top 5 welter
2) a top 10 welter, top5 jr middle
3) a top 3 middleweight
than the lightweight is a ****ing legend
sugar ray robinson did not square the ring with a middleweight who was the hgeviaer version of leonard, did not share the ring with a lightheavy woh was the bigger version of hagler. in fact sugar ray robinson, fought less than great middleweights for the most part, had only one fight at 175 which he lost, so i guess robinson is not p4p material, by your standards
just name 10 fighters who you think are better than duran p4p, and we can go on with this, otherewise you are not making sense.Comment

Excuses, mere whining and arguments which hold little value.Originally posted by jabsRstiffNot to mention......older, & with 80 fights under his belt.
In return to your argument.
Then Duran is nothing more but a fake because elites overcome their obstacles and not be overwhelmed by it.
Duran got overwhelmed by his obstacles.
I may be a bit harsh but I'm sorry.Comment
