I specified Leonard. Any credible historian would of known I was talking about Benny right away.

The ring = just a bunch of writers.
IBRO = been there, done that. Members are former fighters, former trainers etc.

I am a man driven and convinced with facts, if you post the justification of why they believe Benny was the greatest, that would allow me to better understand an opion of this nature.

PAC has already superseded marginally. PAC has won where Duran lost. Give PAC a few more years and things will change a lot.

Stating that now is a bit premature I think.

But saying an outright no is to my mind, lacking of knowledge.

I don't think Leonard was the greatest lightweight, IBRO does !!

I vote Joe Gans # 1, Leonard #2 and Duran #3 although I consider all three of them P4P top 10 material. The Lightweight division is very deep. However, Benny Leonard in many ways is the Muhammad Ali of the lightweight division he faced and defeated the best collection of contenders ever to appear in one time in the division. Stylistically, I also think he can beat Duran who was troubled by clever boxers who could move such as Edwin Viruet, Vilomar Fernandez etc.

It should be noted that Ray Arcel who trained both Leonard and Duran rated Benny Leonard as the greatest fighter he ever saw.

It's debatable whether Pacquiao has beaten anyone better than Esteban DeJesus. Yes, that includes Morales and Barrera.

It's my contention that DeJesus would've been an all-time great if he did not have the misfortune of competing in the same era as Roberto Duran.

It should ALSO be noted that Duran achieved MUCH more then Pacman, but he also started at bantamweight !!

Some of you guys are reaching. No comparison on any level between Duran and Pacquiao. The fighters Pac beat are not even close to being as good as some of the guys Duran beat.

                    Wrong.

I will just reiterate the points.

Duran is a "no mas" quitter and he got beat by all the elites of his era. And he got beat bad. It's either via a humiliating decision or a KO or he got so frustrated he quit.

A lot of people point out the Duran's greatness emanates because he had numerous titles on different weight divisions. Fine, if that's how you base your arguments, fine with me.

But the bottomline is, he lost to all the elites of his era. And the only reason why stayed so long is because in his prime, he handled his money affairs so bad, by the time he realized it, he was already broke as brokeback. He stayed so long only because he needed the money.

Thank you for expressing your opinion. I respect your opinion, but IMO Duran is the best 135. He is also in my top 5 P4P ever. He accomplished many things in different weight classes. His passion, hunger and entertainment value was very unique.
