i have to say no cause look at how long duran fought. pacman better not be fighting in his 40s and 50s. pacman would do great to even come close and i do think hell at least do that.

If Pac pads his record by fighting bums 5 in row in mid of his prime and get 100 wins, yea, he'll be up there with Duran. LOL!

But Manny won't do that. Pac fights the best WHEN HE IS at his best. What's the purpose of Duran fighting guys wit 1 digit fight numbers at his prime?! LOZR. LOL!

comparing Pacman to the greatest lightweight of all time who won belts at middleweight and gave one of the best middles ever hell is funny as hell. Let's see Pacquaio win belts at 147..

I take it him quitting that fight was a staple in his legacy.

                  1. Dominate his natural weight class for an entire decade. Say Manny dominates the featherweight class for a decade. I assume he'll fail at this one.
                  2. Be considered by most experts the best ever in such weight class. I assume he'll fail at this one, too.
                  3. Go up two weight classes and beat another all-time great (SRL) Say, Pac going up to 135 to face Castillo, and beating him.
                  4. At 31, go up yet another weight class and be competitive against an all-time legend (Benitez), and beating some contenderes as well (Cuevas, Moore) Say, Pac going up to 140 and being competitive vs. PBF and even beating Hatton and Zab.
                  5. At 32, go up one final weight class and be extremely competitive against yet another legend and top 3 all-time in his weight class (Hagler). Say Manny goes up to 147 and goes the distance vs. Oscar.
                  6. Continue being a contender at such weight and, at 37, gaining the title off a very solid fighter in his prime (Barkley). Say Manny beats Margarito for the 147 lb title.

If Manny were to accomplish those feats, then yes, his legacy would surpass that of Duran. Tall ask though.

In the meantime, not even close.
                  7. Escape from a burning locked down warehouse using a button and a rubberband.

                  8. Believe it IS butter.

NA seriously ,he already moved up 6 weight classes, dominate and knock out two mexican legends which aint too shabby. So if he keeps on moving up to 147 like you said, he would have gone up a total of 9 divisions. Let's relax a bit and not ask too much of the guy

In terms of boxing legacy, not at all, not yet. Duran has achieved much, much more than probably any lightweight in history.

But in terms of legacy to his country, Pacquiao is probably at the same level. No one stops traffic, influences sports and politicians like he does.

i dont think manny is on his way there, on sep. i expect morales to give him a tough fight. mannys trainer said it would be easier for manny to ko morales the 3rd time. i personally dont think so and morales will win on sept 16.
