Mayweather has a great record. My complaints about him is he demanded Canelo fight him 2 pounds under the regular Jr. middleweight limit of 154 for the title and that he won't vacate his 154 title. Mayweather fights only twice a year. It's not right that he hangs on to titles in two weight classes when he can't possibly do a proper job of defending both titles. He should pick one weight class and drop the other.

did you complain when other fighters did same? for example Manny made cotto defend at 145 and then held on to the JWW title he won from Hatton without giving it up.
I can tell a lot of posters on here have no followed boxing very long with some of the comments on here. A whole revisionist history. He is a cherrypicker that doesnt take risks? simple facts throws this assertion under the bus
FACTS THAT YOU DONT KNOW OR IGNORE ABOUT FLOYD MAYWEATHERS CAREER
1) He won the lineal title in is 18th pro fight, 2nd year as a pro at 21 years of age. Very few fighters have won titles, younger or in fewer fights. Also considering the quality of fighter. Genaro Hernandez was the man at 130 for years and beat the best there. Not no vacant title, against some unranked guy but THE MAN.
2) Only Manny Pacquaio has won 4 lineal titles and each time he won a lineal title it was against the number one guy, not some vacant title. Hernandez(130), Castillo(135), 147(Baldomir, Mosley), Canelo(154)
Try to name one former lineal junior lightweight world champion who would beat Canelo, Oscar and Cotto.
2) in 45 fights almost half his fights are title fights and over a third are against future former or current world champions.
3) With signing to fight Maidana he will have fought 13 world titlists he has defeated 12 in a row....name one fighter in this era or prior who has done so....Whitaker, Chavez, Jones, Hopkins, Toney, Leonard, Hearns, none of them have done this. There may not be a lot of great fighters in his era but he has consistently beat good to very good competition convincingly for a long time
4) In his early career as pretty boy floyd he called everyone out on HBO TSZYU, ODLH, Mosley, Casamayor, all the top guys avoided him until he became the cash cow
5) he conceded everything to ODLH for the fight...gloves, ring size, weight class, etc...he earned his spot. The champ doesnt call out guys, face it. you dont have to watch him. I will.
I've always liked Floyd..Always felt he was a great fighter, and still believe this..I won't lie tho, some of his fights recently have not been against the best option he could have fought..He fought Ortiz when he could have fought Martinez..He's fighting Maidana when he could have fought Lara..Not to say either fighter would have beat Floyd..Just to say he had a chance to fight better opponents, yet did not..
He fought Oscar after Oscar had moved up to MW and been brutal KO'd by B-Hop..He fought Mosley after Mosley clearly beat the hell out of Marga's..Yet we know Mosley had been far from his best for sometime..
I don't wanna detract to much from May..I will say this last thing..Mayweather if he really wanted could have jumped right up to WW..Not stopped at JWW,and not stayed solong at LW..I say this cause you claim Mayweather called out Mosley and Hoya(while both were prime)..All he had to do was move up..You know why he did not do this??Cause there were other fighters at WW beside Mosley and Hoya..Dangerous fighters..
I agree,May has taken risk..He has fought plenty of Champions..The thing he has not done often(enough)is fight the fights the fans wanna see..When we wanna see them..I think May takes a hit cause of this..I still think he is great tho..
A fight is a fight..IN a fight everyone has a shot to win..Floyd has not been fighting bad fighters..He's actually always fought at least a creditable fighter..Even Ortiz(hated this fight, even tho I loved the way it ended)..
Just try to be objective. It's just embarrassing that you are using those names to boost up Floyd.
Want to talk about objectivity, moron?
Baldomir was the lineal champion at Welterweight who hadn't lost in a decade when Floyd fought him and was coming off 2 career wins over Judah and Gatti.
Not to mention he was by far and away the biggest person Floyd had fought at that point. Baldomir was a massive, massive Welterweight at a time when Floyd had just moved up a year prior and was tiny.
Just shut the **** up, you know absolutely nothing about boxing.
Hindsight is 20/20 when you try to discredit someone. Baldomir was not only a legitimate fight, it was a good fight made at the time.

he didn't move up because the plan was to fight Gatti to see how he would do as a ppv fighter.
It's always funny when people talk about so and so never did this or that, fought everyone, every challenge, and their resume's are crap compared to Mayweather, the guy who supposedly avoided everyone. This crap makes me laugh.
Anyone that though Floyd should have had to fight Martinez is a moron, plain and simple. Sergio is the Middleweight Champion of the world. He should act like it.
I could see Floyd-Lara as a good fight, but that doesn't seem to be the fight to be made at 154. Canelo vs Lara is. Everyone seems to forget Lara was just dropped twice and fought an even fight with Angulo basically until a freak stoppage with the eye. Canelo vs Lara is the fight to be made at 154 right now.

You mean as eliminator? Floyd is still the champ at 154 or thereabouts. He's been a sww titlist for almost 2 years there, with not a single fight at 154 proper since winning this belt
