2x olympic gold medalist, 2 world championships and various other amateur titles and nowhere in that fight for as much as 20 seconds did he outbox a fat, old, out of shape, washed up Salido who looked the worst he ever has.

2nd pro outing or not. What is supposed to be so impressive about him? His footwork? Fast feet but he doesn't have great footwork. His defense is overrated too, Salido couldn't miss him and he looked like a zombie out there.

Salido from even as little as one year back would of seriously hurt that kid. He isn't ready for the big boys.

Get back to the drawing board and fight a few tough journeymen and develop a damn jab and some ring generalship. This kid does not strike me as a guy with that sort of amateur pedigree. He don't look to me like a guy who went 100-1 in the ams nevermind 400-1.

I didn't think his defense was that bad actually. I'm not sure Salido landed more than 30% of his punches. He was throwing a lot, but he was missing. Lomachenko's defense is primarily his feet. He can take the half step back, has good balance. He was able to turn Salido around on several occasions. On the inside however he showed that he can get mugged. That is usually from a lack of pro experience, he's likely never had to deal with that type of pressure in the amateurs before.

But I agree, he needs to get back to the drawing board and hopefully get a pro style trainer.

Something like, but I don't think it has been updated to show last Saturday's fight, since it still shows Salido as champ but it would be close to that.

well some excuses are that he was 11 pounds heavier than lomachenko, donaire was 142 against Rigondeaux 125, that didn't stop the Cuban from taking the pinoy to school, Gamboa beat the crap out of a fresher and prime salido and in reality he koed him in the twelve, only his foul prevent him from stopping him, the kid was holding salido all night long, that is a repeatedly foul so salido respond it by hitting him on the heap and legs...

I like Lomachenko, but he in no way, shape, or form deserves this title shot. Even so, can't blame him for taking it. And part of me wants to see him in with Gary Russell Jr. If Lomachenko could fight anything like his WSB style for twelve rounds, he'd be very entertaining to watch. In the WSB, he was extremely aggressive, constantly coming forward and punching. I guess he didn't trust his conditioning enough to do that against Salido. Since Russell Jr. likes to fight off the backfoot, and Lomachenko the front foot, could be an interesting fight. But as I said, Lomachenko still doesn't deserve this title shot.
