I can guarantee he understands Spanish, listens to Spanish music, and eats Spanish food. So to say he isn't Puerto Rican is dumb.

You don't see White people stressing that. " your not a real Irish" or Italian , Russian, German...etc
I don't know what Irish think.
If Danny Garcia claims to be Puerto Rican I'm not going to stop him. He can call himself whatever he wants since he has Rican blood

Angel is trying to do now what GBP should have done years ago and thats market the kid to broader audience the way ggg is being set up as a world wide star not a Philly star with some pr fans and some scattered fans in thev usa.

Its a nationalistic thing, in mexican's case, if you are not born-raised in Mexico, you are not mexican; even if the law states that you are a mexican citizen if both of your parents are born in mexico.
De la Hoya -> not mexican
Victor Ortiz -> not mexican
Brandon Rios -> not mexican
Cain Velasquez -> not mexican

If you were born there and raised in the usa youre not mexican
but if you were born in the usa and raised in mexico youre more accepted thats mexican logic. You have to have lived and witnessed the culture first hand
Like margarito who was born in the usa but raised in mexico claims Tijuana and people embraced him
