would be a great fight but prime Hatton was a force to be reckoned with and i think out works and takes the fight on the cards after a very tough battle with a couple of Knock downs along the way if at WW though i favour Maidana as he looks better there than Hatton ever did and in this instance he wins possibly by stoppage but then this is not prime Hatton but prime Maidana
It would probably be a really good fight, both are pressure guys but Hatton is an inside mauler and Maidana likes his space.
Maidana has some advantages but he needs space to really hurt people and he is not the sort of boxer that is going to just keep Hatton off him. SO either he hurts Hatton or possibly busts him up stopping the fight or he probably ends up losing a decision because the fight will get fought in a place and a way he probably can't win.
I would say Hatton would be Maidana best win without a doubt, I don't think the same about the reverse but Maidana would be high up on Hatton's list.
This right here. Maidana can't beat Hatton at his game. He is going to lose the fight on the inside.
The only reason he lost against Floyd is because Floyd is a weight class or two above him.
And he lost to pacquiao because he leaves too many openings coming in and you cant leave openings against pacquiao because he will knock you out.
140 Hatton overwhelms Maidana, may drop him once or twice, aside from Khan probably the highest activity rate fighter Maidana would of (hypothetically) fought.....
At 147, looking at Maidana now, i'd still favour Hatton honestly, the foot speed/head movement (when he did use it) of Hattton would still be problematic for Maidana, whilst employing that, Hatton would find angles to fire his shots off, as a result of the high activity/movement.
Maidana is prone to and willing to partake in a dogfight, it was Hattons job to make it one... He did employ 'some sort' of method behind his madness keep in mind imo.
But at 147 it would definitely be closer, we're talking a 2003-2007 Hatton to a 'current' Maidana prime wise yeah?
Even if that is completely true he would still beat Maidana. Hatton would smother him and land quick punches inside. He wouldn't let Maidana fight coming forward. I actually think Hatton would stop Maidana late.
Maidana has a nice jab.. That would be a factor in stalling Hatton and disrupting his rhythm enough to land a sledgehammer shot in between clinches.
And inside... Devon blinded and stunned Maidana with fast combos at mid range, THEN clinched, which served to pacify Maidana. That's far different than someone clinching Maidana and proceeding to try to maul him to death. You think Maidana gonna let a guy maul him to death without scrapping back? Another thing, are we talking about the Maidana that fought Devon or the one that's obviously learned from the Devon debacle?
He has better range and better one punch power. That's all I will give you. Hatton gave plenty of angles inside. You don't think Hatton would have taken Broner out? Broner's head would have been spinning with how Ricky would attack him.
Everything Hatton does is so much faster than Maidana. He moves his hands and feet so much faster. Not that Hatton wouldn't struggle or even be hurt or dropped. I still think he would overcome Maidana because he's much faster.
I don't want to hear Broner as a speed comparison either because all he did was just stand there with his guard up like a damn fool. Hatton would pivot in and out and attack Broner with power punches.
I like Maidana's angles better. His range.. His power...his jab.... His head movement...and I have to give him benefit of the doubt on chin because Maidana has never been stopped and Hatton has... Three times.
Hatton does have nice foot speed and some decent hand speed though.. Good scrap but edge Maidana. Hatton finds some success in close with Maidana holding his own for the most part, but Maidana's range is the X factor and hattons foot speed actually works against him as he walks into a Maidana bomb.
Tyszu may of been past prime but that win is probably greater than Maidana's whole resume. Hell his stoppage of a shopworn Castillo is a better win than Broner, Karass, Ortiz and the likes.
Maidana is Brandon Rios 2.0
He has finally learned how to slip a jab, tomorrow we'll be teaching him how to write his name.
