Better jab, better combination puncher, better work-rate, and he was tougher. He would out-work Hopkins at worse. Who was Hagler's best win? Does it matter? All you need to know is that Hagler would've Ko'ed Jermaine Taylor; something your feather-fisted boy couldn't do.
Not to mention hagler got out boxed by two journeyman and lost to a welterweight and went life and death with a blown up lightweight in duran. At least hopkins had the decency to KO the smaller guys unlike Hagler who could barley beat them.

We all know that Duran wasn't normal. No one on Hopkins list of opponents were tougher than Duran. I don't care how big or small they were. How about the killer that John The Beast Mugabi was when Hagler Ko'ed him? Would Hopkins had done the same? It's debatable man. Hagler's toughness and relentlessness was rare. Hopkins is a good fighter who is good at surviving but his fighting style sucks. It always has. In my opinion, he's over-rated.
Contrary to popular opinion mugabi was only a "killer" because he was fighting nobodies. Hagler went life and death with him and that gave mugabi a reputation like he was some beast though he never beat anyone good and was knocked out multiple times after hagler and in much quicker fashion. To get to the point mugabi ******.

And lets see how hagler would of done if he kept fighting and had to get in there with guys like the body snatcher or young james toney. He would of been creamed and would be viewed like jones jr now but even worse. But he retired at 32 to avoid all that didn't he.

He blocked tito's vaunted left hook and countered beautifully with his own hook... Awesome performance from round 1 to 12.... Master class in boxing,, everyone should watch that fight... Hopkins truly put on one of the greatest performances ever

I pop this fight in my dvd player about once a month. Lampley summarized it well when he said, "This is a cold, clinical performance from a true professional in Bernard Hopkins."
