Canelo coming in at 153 for Trout is his prerogative. The belt is for 154 lbs he should've at least had the option to come in at that weight.
Coming in at 152, err I mean 154 is impressive enough but he doesn't deserve to be praised for fighting at welter as if he could make jww. He comes in at 147 "with such ease" my ass, he wouldn't be able to make 140 if he tried. He's there because he has to be.
Because he's at the top of the totem pole. He's the #1 p4p fighter in boxing, the #1 PPV star, and no one (except Pacquiao, maybe Bradley) has a good enough chance to defeat him at welter. He fights for money and most people pay in hopes of seeing him lose, if the illusion isn't there, his PPV buys will drop (see Guerrero or wait for Khan fight).
People want to see him move up to middle for two reasons. 1) like the above, ppl want him to lose, even if it's through sheer size and/or 2) to see a skilled fighter pushing himself to his limits so we can see just how good he is. What he would gain both monetarily and in legacy would well be worth it
