Both have valid career and business reasons for what they want.

Ward wants it because GGG would be moving up and that may make him beatable. Ward at this stage in his career and accomplishments feels deserving of the big money fights and making good career decisions to maintain his standing.

Triple G and team are trying to get there. They want to be smart and take on guys his size at 160 to build up to bigger money fights vs taking such a huge risk which can kill stock.

I like Ward, but he already cleaned out a generation of 168. I think he should challenge himself vs other 168-175lbers vs GGG at 160.

GGG and team on the other hand need to stop talking about being the best between 154 and 175 if they aren't' going to do it. I think GGG's focus should be on the guys at 160 and unifying.

Hes not even the best in his division yet. In comparison Sergio Martinez last 7 opponents had only lost a combined 5 fights before facing him. Sergio Martinez is still the best middleweight until he is beaten.

That's exactly the reason why GGG should not move up. Many see him as middleweight king de facto. But they are doubters that have credible arguments that Golovkin didn't face top names/champions in MW. Moving up being crowned and legit MW king is very different than doing it at this point.

this wouldn't have been an issue if Team Golovkin hadn't said they'd fight anybody from 154-168.

THEY billed him as the most feared man from 154-168

in the simplest terms Golovkin's team said everybody at 168 was afraid of him and wouldn't fight him. Andre Ward called him out and now they're saying they don't want to move up?

then why say you're the most avoided boxer in 3 weights classes but back down when somebody calls you on it.

Golovkin's team caused this problem by writing checks with their mouths that their a. sses couldn't cash.

don't call out people when you aren't willing to fight them. Golovkin doesn't have to move up but they should have kept their mouths shut in the 1st place and there wouldn't have been a problem

You're An IDIOT If You Think GGG Is Avoiding Anyone!

This kid is ballz to the wall. Everyone keeps coming up with the next threat that will stop Gennady and he blows them up. Quillen won't fight, Sergio would rather fight Cotto, Chavez Jr would rather fight at '68... Leave Gennady alone. The guy fought what, 4 times last year getting better with every fight; what's there not to like about a kid like that?!!? He's got Quillen, Sergio, Canelo, Cotto, Sturm, Chavez Jr all in front of him right where he's at. All those guys have to do is grow a set and climb in the ring with GGG. Curtis Stevens was supposed to be the killer that would put it on Gennady and when that didn't turn out so well for Killer Curtis, then everyone piled in with their expertise how "overrated Stevens was". Gennady is the real deal, he'll fight anyone and he comes to fight. If you have a problem with that, then go root for Floyd who'd rather fight Amir Khan-Job.

                  well

hopefully cotto beats sergio because IF that happens, i know Cotto will fight GGG! As for Sturm, should be a no brainer(make it happen), as for Quillin, there shouldnt be an issue with fighting GGG, the networks can figure something out, especially since quillin isnt even close to being a B side....

If my memory serves me correct I am pretty sure Murray Sutherland was the first Super Middleweight World Champ. I watched the fight on the fairly new invention, cable tv, back in 1984.

Was actually talking about Broner, but we'll work off Floyd. Floyd didn't put any one within two weightclasses on notice, just to say "well, except for that guy, he can't get it". Floyd can't make the next weightclass at all, whereas GGG is 170or above on fight night. Floyd isn't complaining about not getting fights whereas GGG is, and Floyd has hopped a weightclass to fight the #1 in the division, whereas GGG hasn't. Floyd isn't fighting smaller fighters while claiming he can't get a good fight but GGG is. If GGG wants to prove the hype is real, do it in a big way. He's already a top 10 P4P in many lists, why not fight the #2?
