It may have leveled some, but overall UFC is def still growing. PPV sales aren't the best indicator because UFC is def affected more by pirating than boxing is. Boxing for the most part is supported by an older crowd. It's much easier to find a random on the street that knows or is a fan of MMA over boxing.
I know a lot more people that used to get together to watch boxing that don't bother with it anymore and instead get together for UFC. Their biggest complaint is too many boring boxing matches, too many bad decisions, and the best don't fight the best.

things have changed...what arum said about casuals is true 5 years ago.

a lot of these casuals are also into mma and they see how ufc ppvs are always stacked. they expect the same for boxing ppvs and that's exactly what golden boy did and it worked.

maybe another ppv failure for top rank will bring realization to arum that his old formula doesn't work anymore.

        In essence

the Bobfather is right. Its obviously sweeter and more appealing when there are good undercard fights, BUT, the main event is why most people buy ppvs.
You have to remember that hardcore boxing fans only make up a small amount, maybe a quarter of the percentage of ppv buyers as most of the buyers are casual fans who are mostly into the main fighters.

It would definitely benefit us if ever ppv had a decent/good undercard but its rare, even moreso now because of the crazy amount of money these main event fighters are guaranteed.

For all the bs Don King is about, he stacked damn near every ppv card with good/great undercard fights!

I can see the arguments for Tim staying and going. I think there are a lot better fights for him at GBP, but financially, staying with Uncle Bob may have been best. Anyone know how long his extension is for?

I think if you stacked an undercard with well-recognized boxers, it would sell better than anonymous slugfests. You are correct about names selling PPVs. Names get built somehow, though.

I'm still waiting for the numbers on the Pacquiao/Rios $5 tablet Chinese PPV sales? Arum was talking about making millions off this and what happen?

Also Bradley making $6 million guarantee is ****ing ridiculous. Instead of paying that boring ****er use those $6 million for 2 solid undercard fights. I can't wait till the death of PPV and also Top Rank who are on their last legs. Arum can't duped the public anymore

I forgot about that. They will probably release those numbers at about the same time that Bob's new stadium gets built.

Think about what some of you guys are asking for a second. You guys are begging to pay $70 for something that would normally be a $10 subscription fee. I would rather have had Garcia-Matthysse be on regular showtime so I wouldn't have had to pay $70 for a crappy casual-hyped up Mayeather-Canelo PPV.

We're begging to have something more to watch besides the main event if they are going to charge $70.

You're going to pay that amount anyway for ppv so why not ask for more content? Are you happy paying for less?

Red Herring. The pricing for a PPV is not based on a series of fights, it is based on the main event. If you have great fighters fighting each other you have more events.

But by all means be good little sheeple and believe that more marquee fights belong together because then they can charge you more for a double header, triple header etc. Look at how network and promoters have consistantly been able to make people buy the same **** that they had for free. And look at how the price point has changed for these events!

The real issue is the price point. It is so prohibitive that people will not watch a good fight on ppv. The networks also know that if they can get people to fork over almost 100 dollars to watch a popular fight on tv, they can easily give you two special fights and charge more. Don't take my word for it....look at the crap that goes on PPV today! Stuff nobody would pay a nickel for.

The real issue could be resolved if ppv's were reasonably priced, if people would not pay crazy prices for Floyd like fights, and if there was better network coverage of fighters.

The UFC is different from boxing because it is in an exposure phase....so naturally it wants to put as much stuff up on a show as possible to build a fan base.

Any idiot here who buys a PPV and pays over 50 bucks for it has no reason to complain....DON'T BUY IT!! I have not bought a seminal fight in years, refuse to. Same reason I won't pay over 30 bucks a plate in a family type restaurant. Its not Arum in this case it is you!
