Pfft...who says I was going to pay for the PPV anyway? Bob is right. I'm part of the 10% who brought the it for the undercard. I wouldn't have bought it if Garcia-Matthysse wasn't on it.

Putting the good fights on PPV just means they're going to put the lesser quality fights on regular HBO/Showtime.

Is the UFC model really what you guys want? You want to pay $70 bucks every freaken month to watch all the good fights instead of having them put the good fights for free on regular TV?

No, of course not. Show me the boxing promoter who has a better model though.

$70 is too high but at least GBP has been making the effort recently to give you a good event. Arum will charge you the same $70 but feed you crap. The better choice is clear to me as a fan.

Of course if you just stream everything then there's nothing to complain about.

        I can't believe I agree with Bob.

But if I was an up-and-comer I'd be pissed by what he said everytime I'm up for a fight in an undercard bill.

a lot of these casuals are also into mma and they see how ufc ppvs are always stacked. they expect the same for boxing ppvs and that's exactly what golden boy did and it worked.

maybe another ppv failure for top rank will bring realization to arum that his old formula doesn't work anymore.

goldenboy signed floyd mayweather. that's why they're doing so well with ppv.

don't get it twisted, as they say in the ******.

The undercard of the potential Mayweather-Khan fight will be the make or break for that fight. I bet without a good undercard, that PPV could lose up to 300-400k buyers. Same thing happened to Pac-Rios, terrible undercard, probably 250-300k hardcore fans around the U.S. decided not to buy it, I know I was one, and it actually was the first time I didn't purchase a Pac PPV since 2008 Pac-DLH. This will be the first time I don't purchase a Mayweather PPV in almost a decade if the undercard is bad, because i'm not paying $70 for a sh-t match up.

Arum just wants to maximize profit for himself by putting on lesser fighters on the undercard that don't demand a decent pay check. GBP/Mayweather Promotions are not as greedy, they will pay guys like Garcia-Matthysse and Canelo vs Mosley a couple of million dollars to split, to duke it out on the undercard.

Its all about profit margin, not greed or some subjective bs...they got people crunching numbers and determine who gets booked, that's all

Why are people crying about the undercard? You should be crying about the horrendous main events. Pacquiao-Rios was crap. Mayweather-Khan is crap. Canelo-Angulo is crap. If you're padding up the undercard to make up for the ****ty main event, it shouldn't be worth buying period. All you're telling the promoters is "I'll willing to pay $70 for something I'd normally I'd pay $15 for. Please, stick your huge black **** up my ass, and I'll thank you for it. " My ass is still throbbing from the night of passion I had with Scheafer after I paid him $70 for May-Canelo when all I wanted is was Garcia-Matthysse.

The only thing I need out of PPV undercards is decent competitive ESPN/Showbox main event level stuff. I'm perfectly fine with up and coming prospects who nobody has ever heard of. Or stuff that would never be shown on HBO/Showtime, but are decent fights regardless. I don't want big names in mismatches. That's usually just depressing to watch. I don't know if I even want HBO/Showtime level stuff. If you're making me pay $70 for something that normally costs $15, then **** you. You're ripping me off. All the promoter will up doing is putting the crappy fights on HBO/Showtime. UFC puts the best stuff in PPV, but puts the mediocre fights on free tv. That's what you guys are asking for even if you don't realize it. You're lowering the quality of the cheaper regular HBO/Showtime programming.

HBO boxing lowered the quality of free over the air boxing. And now PPV will lower the quality of HBO boxing.

Undercards generally don't attract casuals because

                      1. "Who are these guys? Are they both Mexican?" (Watching an Argentine vs Puerto Rican)
                      2. If its a boxing match and less of a sluggers game, they tend to not know how to follow all the action. Its fun watching fights when you have an idea of what you want your fighter to do in the ring.
