I agree rome. But Tim seems to be planning his future as if he is going to lose.

If he didn't have to resign and he beats manny ( as I assume he thinks he will) by winning he wll get more than $6 mil in a floyd fight. History shows us GBP/floyd make big fights when TR is no involved but there is no guarantee. SO I get tim's decision.

If he loses-he goes back to making certain amounts. What if the ppv bombs? How will TR continue to pay him 2 mil for TV fights on HBO when HBO is reducing their budget? Now that $2 mil aint happening, he has no fanbase, and a promoter who admits he isn't great at marketing him to his built in fanbase.

I don't know of any cuts on HBO, but if they nego a per fight minimum they have to hold up their end no?? I think Bradley is being smart and covering his interest,I think he's confident inwinning..I also believe he's realistic, and knows anything can happen..ESP against a great fighter like PAC monster..

I see it differently. I look at it as Tim is thinking as a worker/fighter. He is leaving it up to the promoters to do what they do and make fights. And its still possible that this promotional beef won't last forever especially with Floyd and Pac leaving the game soon. Regardless, at Top Rank he has:

Pacquiao 2 (and possibly 3 if April's fight is a classic)
Ruslan 2 (rematch of last years fight of the year, HBO WILL buy this)

Guaranteed money for 2014. Don't forget Kell Brook either as a possibility.

Next year you possibly have Miguel Cotto or he can chase his 3rd division title against Demetrius Andrade. Or there is the possibility of Rios/Alvarado/Mayfield/Khabib/Abregu/Vargas.

Basically, I think he has 2 years of guaranteed work.

After that who knows what's going to happen? You got Mikey Garcia, Terrance Crawford, Felix Verdejo and other guys from the lower weights who may be at 147 by that time. Bradley will be 34 years old by then.

I don't see keeping him busy as a problem at all.

I didn't say he was dumb. If I was confident in my ability, I'd take the $6m to fight Pacquiao and then allow the offers to come in before signing anything long term.

We already know from past instances that Bradley isn't that confident in himself. I don't blame him.

but put yourself in his position. will you turn down a guaranteed millions with a company thats been treating ya well and giving u all the big name stars

Its not really hatin' on him. It just doesn't make sense for him to sign the extension if he didn't have to.

Well I don't have a big problem if that's how he feels. He wants his family to be secure. As a fan, I would have preferred him to take the Cotto route, but it's not my decision nor my place to tell him how to make that decision. I don't want to cover what the problem really is though, which this "Cold War" nonsense to begin with. We shouldn't be having these ****** promotional company and network issues. It's a shame.

I think Tim was being a bit short sighted. I understad his reasoning but he is no Floyd. Beck he's no cotto either. He took the easy low risk low reward route. Who knows how big he could have gotten if he best pad and was out of contract. The money was there. He just had to go for it the way Floyd did when he left top rank. But I respect his decision. Not everyone has it in him to go for broke.

He just should have fought manny, not re-upped and became a free agent like cotto,, He could still do fights with Top rank, but he could also get the floyd fight or GBP fighters like broner, maidana, khan, thurman, ghost, etc

That's exactly right. The smart move was to become a free agent and have the ability to work both sides of the fence. When you have two promoters and two networks competing for your services you are able to ask for more.

Once Tim loses to Pac there is no one at Top Rank for him to fight. He's going to spend his time doing the Rios-Alvarado-Provodnikov circle jerk.

Self-promotion. Much bigger fanbases, and much more appealing outside of the ring. Guys like Bradley and Andre Ward just like to show up, fight, get paid and go home. GBP is horrible with fighters like that. They just bury them on undercards and put them in difficult fight after difficult fight.
