This is a crock of **** and a shame.NEW YORK — Nearly eight months passed between Guillermo Rigondeaux’s last two HBO appearances.
Rigondeaux might have to wait even longer before HBO Sports executives agree to put him on the network again. Bob Arum, Rigondeaux’s promoter, understands their reluctance.
The unbeaten Cuban dominated Ghana’s Joseph Agbeko to defend his WBA and WBO 122-pound championships Dec. 7 in Atlantic City. The mostly boring bout drew mediocre ratings, though, and left viewers switching channels to seek entertainment elsewhere following a highly entertaining co-featured fight in which James Kirkland stopped Glen Tapia in the sixth round.

I have never heard a promoter dog his own fighter like this before. Even adding that Lomo, a 1 fight novice, should go in a **** him up.
I can name a ton of fighters and fights that bore the sit out of everyone but still got TV dates. John Ruiz, Carlos molina, ishe, Paulie, iron Boy, Berto, even Ward to an extent. none of those guys get half the grief that Rigo does. Sad.Comment

You make a good point about the headlining. Rigo's issues would be diminished if he fought on undercards, but I don't know if they'd be altogether cured.Molina doesn't headline anything, therefore doesn't seek headliner money.
Rigo headlines and wants headliner money - I think this boils down to the fact that there is no positive return on investment when he headlines.
It isn't easy to demote him to undercard status like others have said when the seeks/demands headline money.
I don't understand why everyone says to let him go to gbp, they won't do a good job for him either. Schafer was taking ish about Lara, so they have a history of ****ting on their own fighters.
Rigo just needs to take matters in his own hands, his constant coasting is what is hurting his career, not his promoter
I understand that GBP might be as bad, or even worse than Top Rank. But if Schaefer takes on Rigo, it stands to reason he thinks he can do better than Arum. That would be an improvement...at least initially. If GBP doesn't pan out, Guillermo might have to take his show overseas. He simply cannot continue to work with a promoter that publicly blasts him like Bob does.
I would love to see Rigo step up the action myself, but I don't know exactly what his rationale is. I have to believe he has his reasons. Maybe he's just being stubborn. I don't know. But I would hate to see him get KOed, attempting to make a fight more exciting.Comment

He is so b*tthurt it's funny we all know he learned his lesson he is talking **** he wouldn't put his new toy Lomachenko in there with Rigondeaux if his life depended on it.Comment

If TR can't promote Rigondeaux, then just release him from his contract and send him on his marry way.
Maybe he'll sign with 50 cent who will say everything Rigo wants to hear.Comment

Someone needs to teach Bob Arum about 'branding'. If you talk and talk and talk about how boring a fighter is... guess what the fans will be associating him with?
Arum wants shot of him its clear. Probably wants to build Donaire back up and Lomachenko up without having the obvious problem of a guy who could embarrass them in the ring floating about his stable.Comment

Makes no sense
First of all lamachenko will get his ass whipped. Arum asked Pac to take chances and 2 losses later hes not considered pound for pound best. Arum cares about money. Some people dont understand boxing its not stand there and get hit its hit and dont get hit. Either way top rank is losing its appeal and so is hbo. Just a matter of timeComment
