Floyd should go for history and fight Martinez at 160. Sergio is there for the taking.
I wouldn't mind Floyd fighting GGG as well at 160. Then we will get to see him splattered on the canvas.Comment

Possibly yeah especially against a 37+ year old Mayweather.are maidana thurman or bradley likely to put up a competitive fight against floyd? i dont think so. this is what im saying, as a fan, why would i want to watch a mismatch?
if you are clearly superior to your welterweight counterparts, why not move up and find a bigger tree to chop? why not add something to your legacy? sergio martinez is there for the taking, why not add the lineal middleweight title to your resume, surely thats better for everybody? fans get a good fight to look forward to and its win win for both fighters.
So again because he's too good for his 4th weight class he should move up to a 6th? Even though he comes to the ring at 150 lbs?
And he can't fight people his actual size and the top guys in his weight class because he's too good? Again, that's simply not fair.
Never in my life have I seen such a high standard for one fighter.Comment

Boxing fans want to see competitive match-ups, if there are better fights out there they're not going to settle for less (and nor should they).Possibly yeah especially against a 37+ year old Mayweather.

There are competitive fights in Mayweathers weigh class.
And even if there wasn't he shouldn't be expected to fight career MWs when he comes to the ring at 150 lbs.
Like I said I've never seen such high standards expected for a fighter.Comment

I agree that Martinez would have been too much for Floyd and that is why Floyd never took that fight. No risk fighters are called that for a reason.I always felt that Sergio Martinez was the only fighter/boxer to beat Mayweather because of his capabilities of adjusting on the fly and finding openings to be effective. To beat Floyd a fighter has to out think or think as fast as him. As much as people say and want to believe it but Manny had/has no chance because Manny has no defense and can't dodge a counter right. Floyd is just too accurate and smart for Manny. Lara has become an interesting opponent for Floyd in my opinion.
As for Manny, he had qualities that would give Floyd trouble. The thing is that Floyd fights a thinking game when the opponent is a flat-footed fighter that has a low work rate. So what you need to do with Floyd is pick up the tempo so that Floyd would be too weary of countering because he would be left open for your 2nd, 3rd and 4th punch. Especially if it's someone who has power and is a southpaw (shoulder roll defense is less effective).
Lara is interesting but I wonder about his work rate. Lara may dominate but the judges may give Floyd the rounds even though he doesn't deserve them (eg. Castillo fight) .... So he would have to increase his work rate ..... still, I would rather see this type of competition over a Maidana/Khan ...... Maidana has the right style to give Floyd trouble but he lacks in some areas that give him little chance.Comment

But even the best challengers are off bounds at SWW, unless they bring major money and not too threatening. Never seen such a low standard for 2x, unified, lineal, reigning champ.Possibly yeah especially against a 37+ year old Mayweather.
