bute should have made it by at least one of ward's leftovers, and they would have made the fight.

you want to call ward a duck. you don't want to call bute a duck. both chose not to fight each other. ward actually fought in the tournament, and bute wanted to skip the tournament to fight the winner. it's not complicated.

i get it, dog. believe me. if carl froch beat ward you'd be singing his praise, the way the brits do with kessler today.

Bute did nothing to earn the right to fight for the SMW Championship of the world..Ward had a get some rest card bro,he just won the SS,and Bute had done nothing to earn a shot at Ward..So in one sense I get what ya saying..In reality tho,Ward did not have to do anything..That was Bute's fault as much as anything..

Well call it whatever you want but he reneged on the biggest fight out there for him. No wonder he's trying to leave his promoter and basically verbally blowing Chavez Jr to get a fight....

What was Bute's win? Honestly have no idea.

It doesn't really matter how good you thought he was. He was a huge name and ticket seller in Canada. It was a big money fight - certainly the biggest Ward could get at the time.
It might have been the biggest fight in the SMW division, but most certainly not across boxing.

Take any fighter of PPV value and pair him with john doe and it would be bigger.
At the time (March 2012, onwards) though here's a few:

                    Mayweather-Pacquiao
                    JCCjr - Martinez
                    Pacquiao - Marquez 4
                    Mayweather - Canelo
                    Haye-Chisora
                    Klitschko-Povetkin
                    Haye-Vitali

                    And that's just a few..

Reneged? So he agreed to fight him before? If so, I totally missed that.
