Its funny how some of you want to claim people`s duckin Kovalev when Kovalev avoided Hopkins even though he was the mandatory for Hopkins belt, and he chose to fight the mediocre Cleverly instead.

So while Hopkins waits to see what will happen, he made a suggestion -- that Kovalev go fight Cleverly, and he would be happy to face new champ Adonis Stevenson, who drilled Chad Dawson in the first round June 8 to win the lineal title Hopkins used to hold (as well as an alphabet belt Hopkins used to own before losing to Dawson). Stevenson said he was interested in fighting Hopkins after beating Dawson.
“For me, it’s a no-brainer,” the 48-year-old Hopkins said. “Kovalev can go get Cleverly, I can probably get Adonis and we go head-to-head and give the fans the old light heavyweight battles they had in the late '70 and '80s, and then the winners can fight. It doesn’t seem complicated. OK, maybe I’m being a little sarcastic.”Comment

We'll see. And i'll assume Pascal off a win is an acceptable opponent for Kovalev since it's okay for Stevenson.most people don't know **** about... (c)
Kovalev is still a can crusher
It's funny how people react on the guys that smashing ultimate bums and this **** off HBO calling Gatti's list
No matter what i'll always respect Gatti being a great warrior... but jesus christ.. go watch Gatti-Floyd's bout before u people talking about "KO POWER"
maybe first let's see Kovalev fighting some decent opposition?
no way Fonfara is going to be next Stevenson's opponent
my bet is 95% winner off Bute/Pascal 5% someone else (maybe yet Fonfara)
He'll be more accomplished than Kovalev's other opponet's, so hard to argue how it's a step down or even a bad opponentComment

jeez, brah... it's not about style when champion fighting bums... it's about level of his opposition
just tell me who da *** is Ismayl Sillakh lol?
Hopkins/Shumenov gon fight each other on Showtime
Stevenson gon dance with Bute/Pascal winner over Kovalev because it's a ***ing huge matchup for canadians... perhaps will be one of the
fattest boxing events in canadian history
wait for this one and probably later we'll see Kovalev-Stevenson unified bout
is this a lying?
who tested him? could u provide us some names
a bum like Curtis Stevens?
light middleweight journeyman Rosado?
or maybe light middleweight bum Ishida?Comment

Pascal appears to be arguing he doesn't belong in the equation though - despite having had the same amount of fights as Stevenson and about the same as when Pascal got his first major title shot.
I ain't gonna say he KOs all (or any) for sure, but if I had to place a bet, independently, in any of those three fights it'd be Kovalev by stoppage.
There's always different ways of breaking these things down, but much of the rep of both Pascal and Stevenson have come from their victories over Dawson who other than the Adamek win got his reputation from using his excellent skills and speed to beat old guys - any time someone has been able to bring the fight to him, Dawson has been found vulnerable.
I donno - 'course Pascal is allowed to think or say what he wants, but it just feels a little like GYM have got a moneyspinner in Stevenson (given the money fights to be made in Canada) and would really rather Kovalev was kept outta the way.Comment

???
Kovalev avoided B-Hop???
Go and read http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/p...ce-kovalev-but
"Hopkins would face Kovalev, but ... (June 19, 2013)
(...) So while Hopkins is in, if that is the direction Kovalev pursues, it gets a little complicated because HBO won’t do business with Golden Boy, his promoter. Though Showtime was ready to televise Hopkins against then-mandatory Karo Murat on July 13 -- before Murat dropped out because of an inability to get a visa -- the network, from what Hopkins said, is not interested in putting him on against Kovalev.
Go figure, because Hopkins-Kovalev is a much, much more interesting fight than Hopkins-Murat ever was.
“[Kovalev] is a good puncher and some people are excited about him,” Hopkins said.
(...)
OK, maybe I’m being a little sarcastic.”
Again, Hopkins said he would travel, so if it means meeting Stevenson in Montreal, fine.
“I’ll be in Canada tomorrow. It’s a challenge,” he said. “I would do that because it’s the right thing and logical. Adonis is a big puncher and that’s fine. Let’s see what he can do."
_______________________________
In short: B-Hop sent Kovalev to fight Cleverly and said he would take Adonis...
... And "then the winners can fight"...
What B-Hop actually did? He took Murat and forgot about Adonis and Kovalev... Now B-Hop is after "great" Beibut Shumenov...Comment

That's all I was saying, I wouldn't be that sure about him KO-ing those three, I favour him to win them tho.Pascal appears to be arguing he doesn't belong in the equation though - despite having had the same amount of fights as Stevenson and about the same as when Pascal got his first major title shot.

On Pascal, the video is available in the link. Pascal said Kovalev wasn't the 'the guy' in the division and I think that's fair enough.Comment

If Pascal wins HBO could very well push for this fight in Canada w/Stevenson on the same card setting up the inevitable.Comment

Espionoza had already given it a thumbs down for SHO (one could postulate with the express intention of making life easy for BHop - but realistically more likely cos he knows ME do more work with HBO) - Bhop could basically say what he wanted knowing it might well never get made.
I ain't gonna say that we're talking about BHop ducking or anything like that, but it made absolute sense for Kovalev to go for the Cleverly title shot that was already on the table (and it literally was - Warren had a kinda embarrassing announcement presser after the White win - it turned out it was cos of the hasty exploratory investigations by ME into the preferred BHop fight) rather than one that might never materialise.Comment
