Mares vs Morel was kind of weak for a title fight, but we've seen worse. The win against Moreno was still a very solid win even if it wasnt at 118. A lot of people thought he was going to get out boxed. His wins in the bantam tourney were solid as well. It's not his fault Donaire wasn't in the tourney. You can say what you want about what does done in his career. But the fact remains Rigo and Donaire have both gone on to fight guys he already beat, while Mares has moved on to fight bigger and better fighter lately.
Rigo is a great fighter but he's old and the the current rate his career is going he won't have accomplished ****. Mares is still young and shown his willingness to fight anyone. I don't see how you can hate on a fighter like that. But to each their own.

I'd be surprised if Rigondeaux retires before Mares.

Worry about Gonzalez first

Win or lose vs. Gonzalez, Rigo/Mares is an awesome fight. Mares might simply be overmatched at featherweight.

No racism but I never root for Mexican fighters. I'm Puerto Rican so the rivalry is the reason for that. It's like being a Yankee fan and rooting for Boston, not going to happen. Lol Abner Mares though is a hell of a fighter. I kinda, sorta make exceptions for him cuz he's one tough vato.

1 more fight and Rigo is a free agent would love to see this fight he should fight Kiko before he leaves top rank. If serious and it happens Mares will make me think Boxing should have a biggest ballz of the year award as well not just fighter of the year.
