Always been a fan of Abner, but maybe he should worry about his upcoming fight

If Mares manages to win, his style and attitude are a gold mine. They are not going to risk him against a fighter like Rigo, who brings no money, no fans and a tough day at the office.

I don't know of any boxer who fears defensive, boring boxers. They fear knockout artists with killer instincts, not survival fighters.

I don't think Mares meant physical fear. I think he meant that fighters fear losing to Rigo. Guille is regarded as the best at 122 and a top P4P fighter. If he brought a better payday, more guys would be willing to risk fighting him. As it is, they look at Rigo and know they're going to lose and get paid very little for their troubles. Abner is essentially saying that he can beat "El Chacal."

Different type of fears involved. Fighting a defensive fighter like Rigo might lead others to fear fighting him because of how silly and impotent one might look trying to hit him. He not only beats you but humiliates you as a pro boxer which causes mental damage more than physical damage.

Fearing a ko artist is simple you just don't want to die

Props to Mares, I definitely believe him that he would love to face Rigo. However, let's be real here, that fight ain't happening unless Rigo leaves Top Rank and joins Golden Boy. If GB/TR couldn't put together Mares-Donaire, they're not gonna work together to make Rigo-Mares. Then again who knows, Arum doesn't really give a crap about Rigo.

You people never happy!!! if nobody is calling out Rigo they're affray, if they challenge him they are lying, what is it? Mares has always said he would fight him in a heart beat, he should be praise for doing so......by the way I believe him, because he has taken on the toughest fighters without regard of who they are.

Mad props for Mares. Dude don't give a fck if he wins or loose, he is always more then willing to face top competition. Out of everyone I give him the best shot to make it a somewhat fun fight for a few rounds before Rigo starts controlling the fight and school begins. No one is beating Rigo
