Floyd is his own boss (something he loves to brag about) and this means he can essentially fight anyone he wants. It's clear that ONLY people involved on who he fights next are his advisor Al Haymon, Ellerbe, and himself. GBP is not even involved in the decision making process and Mayweather is not tied to GBP in any way. Manny is also not restricted to HBO (as Espinoza pointed out). This fight seems plausible to make, so I'm wondering if the GBP/TR "beef" is really a valid excuse because GBP doesn't even seem to need to be involved. Before I get any red Ks thrown my way, I'm just curious.
How valid is the GBP/TR excuse?

GBP is really a front for Al Haymon, since he doesn't want to violate the Ali Act. Look at the GBP roster, and you'll see 70% of the fighters are Al Haymon fighters.
With that said, of course they're scared to fight TR fighters. TR has the true Top 5 P4P kings at the moment:
- Manny Pacquiao
- Timothy Bradley
- Juan Manuel Marquez
- Ruslan Provodnikov
- Zou Shiming

So this tread is some twisted reasoning that a Pacman fan has of Floyd ducking Pacman? But the thing is Pacman can't beat Floyd and is a ****** fight right now. Ya'll keep asking for the fight 4 years too late. Do you like to be had?? If not stop acting like it.Comment

Mayweather is a large reason why the Golden Boy/Top Rank feud reached the point its at now. Golden Boy obviously has co-promoted with and provided the opponents for Floyd since he walked away from Arum, and took his side in the Pac/Mayweather stuff, the guy's become Golden Boy in every way but a contract. From there it has escalated to the low point this year, where neither company even puts their fighters on the same network, let alone in the same ring.
Mayweather does have the power to change this if he and Top Rank ever got together on anything, but we know that's not going to happen. Not when he only has 4 fights left before he says he's gone.Comment

I don't know if this has been discussed but I saw De La Hoya sent out a tweet to Arum a few days back wishing him happy holidays and all that while saying let's give the fans the fights they want!! Which didn't sit well with Richard and he said some **** about how they don't need bob.Comment

Floyd does not want to fight Pacquiao. He doesn't. It's clear to anyone he doesn't
Excuse after excuse after excuse while Manny has bended. Manny is doing VADA testing while Floyd tests out of NSAC/ USADA
Now Manny has to sign to Mayweather promotions? Knock out Bradley, fight ghost and Canelo. I mean come on...Comment

I never understood why floyd wont do business with top rank,,,
when top rank was doing business with GBP and giving us great fights like manny-jmm2, margs-shane, hatton-manny, cotto-shane,, Floyd was missing in action on some bogus "retirement"
Then when TR and GBP arent doing business floyd comes back,,
I have never heard of a fighter suing Top rank for ripping them off unlike don king,,
Say what you will about bob arum but his track record is amazing
1. handled some of ali's fights
2. worked with hagler the majority of his career on handshake deals
3. gave us all the superfights between the fab 4 of the 80s
4. handled george foreman's comeback
5. guided oscar to stardom and put him in vs ike, pernell, tito, shane-non TR fighters
6. guided pavlik to stardom
7. got chavez sr some major late career paydays
8. guided chavez jr to stardom
9. guided cotto to stardom
10. guided morales to stardom
11. guided margarito to stardom
12. guided manny to stardom, even though konzc is ripping off manny
13. guided floyd to stardom and ppv attraction
None have never had any beef with arum, outside of oscar but that was more promotional beef than fighter/promoter beef
yet floyd for some reason doesnt want anything to do with TR, even though they helped him out when james prince was hog tying his crew on the gym floor
The only possible explanation is that floyd didnt want none of the 07-09 roster of cotto, margs, and even GBP's shane
and now he doesnt want anything to do with manny
he is just trying to preserve his '0'
That is the only logical reason,,
hell cotto broke free from arum, went and got the floyd fight, and then still does business with arum
Nobody has yet to explain why floyd hates TR, in my mind its his excuse to duck
Its the only logical explanationComment

I disagree. Would it be technically relevant and prove anything? Probably not. You're right about it being late. They should have fought in their prime obviously and that ship has sailed a long time ago. That said, this is prize fighting. It's about business. Money. Not belts. Floyd will be the first one to say as much.
And for as non-relevant as it may be nowadays -- it's still the most lucrative fight in the sport by miles. That alone makes it not a "****** fight" as you put it.
And do I think MP can beat Floyd? As much as I'd like to see it, if I had to bet any of the mortgage on it obviously the smart money would be on FMJ. That said, I could easily (EASILY) see Manny making it a more competitive fight than either of the first two fights of the Floyd/Showtime contract. And Amir Khan is absolutely laughable to most on this site, so you're telling me that fight is less ****** than a Manny/Floyd fight? Dude.Comment
