Since Broner beat Paulie, Maidana has seen him as a step to get Mayweather (I posted some Argentine press reports about it). Maidana's team knew Broner would be overwhelmed by Chino. If you remember, even Matthysse said that "Maidana throws a lot of punches and Broner won't withstand it". Why so many people thought another way, I don't know.

But I think GBP wants to build up a Mayweather - Maidana fight a bit more. I can see many people keep considering Chino a B class fighter. They don't see that this Maidana is not the same fighter who faced Alexander and they forget he was robbed against Kotelnik and almost KOd Khan.

I would say we will see Maidana against a solid name (not Thurman, he's not in the same league yet) and then GBP will try to make Maidana - Matthysse and the winner gets Floyd.

I think all those Golovikin horse meat farts you've been inhaling has clouded your judgement.

People can't be serious when they say "So and so showed how to break Mayweather's defense".

Why? Because they broke through someone who's copying it and doing a bad job?

Some people said the same **** when Guererro beat Berto.

It's similar to when people say Leonard>>>Mayweather because Leonard beat his Dad. Not that Leonard wouldn't beat Floyd because I personally think he'd beat him convincingly but that reasoning is ridiculous.

Maidana breaking through Broner's defence doesn't mean he can break through Floyd's because Floyd's is leagues and leagues better.

        Basic common sense here.

          Thurman vs Malignaggi in April/May
          Khan vs Ortiz in May/June

Floyd fights Danny Garcia in September, so long as he beats Guerrero in the Spring. Thurman/Malignaggi winner could fight either Porter/Brook winner or Khan/Ortiz winner. Which ever one Thurman/Paulie didn't choose could then fight either Lucas, Broner, Devon, which ever by that time picks up a decent win by then.

By that time, Floyd will be on to his final two fights, May and September 2015. By that time, he could potentially fight either Pacquiao or Bradley, both of their contracts with Arum will be up by then, and fight who ever comes out of the other WW fights, hopefully......KEITH THURMAN. By that time Thurman could have wins over Soto Karass, Paulie, Ortiz/Khan, Porter/Brook, Lucas, or any number of good fighters and be a more known name.
It doesn't matter how many times you repeat it's just not happening

Schafer's words are crystal clear. "Eventually happen" because Floyd is all booked up for May with what I'd guess is a signed deal.

I agree though what you say makes sense.

            Smh again.

According to RS, MM is a "special fighter"? Get ALL the way out of here! He was so much bigger than AB, he should've stopped him. How come he didn't? I was more impressed with AB's toughness than MM who was close to being stopped at the end of 12? How come no one is mentioning that? AB is much smaller and fought like the bigger fighter. He was breaking MM down at the end. Mayweather better not fight him. For what?????? Because he beat a lightweight? Based on what does a fight against Floyd need to happen? Floyd needs to fight one fighter, and one fighter only............WE ALL KNOW WHO THAT IS.

Broner was proven a poor copy cat of MW. Maidana try that mess with MW he goes to bed early like Ricky Hatton did with all that lunging forward type crap.

think Floyd would beat Maidana but would be an interesting fight -- not sure that Floyd would take a chance with such a big puncher on his 'farewell' tour -- seems to be looking for the likes of Amir Kahn to play out the string to retirement....

So Mayweather wouldn't be smaller than Maidana?

Wait, you said Broner "takes risks" by fighting guys like Maidana unlike Floyd.

So, Broner fighting Maidana in his prime is a "risk" but Mayweather fighting him at 37 years of age isn't a "risk?"

Mayweather should fight Danny Garcia next, he deserves it. But Danny seems to want a tune up or two at 147 first. In that case, Maidana is there coming off three decent/good wins at 147, and just won a world title there.
Honestly I think Thurman has got the goods to beat Floyd.

So he lost against "Amir Khan" & "Devon Alexander" punishes a "Wannabe Mayweather" in AB and now 'deserves' to be in the ring with Floyd Mayweather.

                      I've seen it all.

                      Some of you are amazing.

The only fights that make any sense right now:

                      Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao
Timothy Bradley vs Juan Manuel Marquez (Rematch)
                      Marcos Maidana vs Keith Thurman
                      Evgeny Gradovich vs Guillermo Rigondeaux
                      Sergio Martinez vs Andre Ward
                      Adonis Stevenson vs Sergey Kovalev
                      Saul Alvarez vs Erislandy Lara
