That's one of the problems with Vitali.

"Oh he was winning or doing well before he lost". He LOST to Lewis and Byrd. Part of being a fighter is being able to stand the physical rigors in the ring. Not just showing a good chin or stamina, but having the body to withstand injuries and cuts.

Vitali did well against fringe contenders and fat contenders of the sort. But Byrd, whom Ike WON against, was better than anyone Vitali ever beat. Hell, so was Tua.

Vitali was hurt late in round 6 by a short right hand on the inside against Lewis, and hurt by a left hand by Sanders late in round 1.

if by hurt you mean awakened, then yeah. he has never even had his knees buckle. sure, he has took a few good punches that had to have hurt, but none of them did any slowing him down.

      short stats:

      ike/ vitali

      complete record - 20(15)-0-0 / 35(34)-2-0

      height - 6'2" / 6'7" 1/2
      reach - 76" / 80"

      first 20 fights:

      ike - 20 wins, 11 ko's inside 3 rounds, 14 ko's inside 6 rounds

      vitali - 20 wins, 17 ko's inside first 3 rounds, 20 ko's inside 6 rounds

      first 20 opponents combined record:

      ike - 197 - 119

      vitali - 302 - 173

      -----------------------------

my take: vitali would likely survive ike's insane punching power by using his reach and height with his unorthodox boxing style. vitali would probably wear him down like he does with all the opponents that he doesn't ko in 3 rounds. vitali also hits insanely hard(as shown by the above figures) and hits hard consistantly, not throwing a large amount of meaningless shots. ike, by virtue of size and build, may have a slightly easier time on the inside than vitali would have on ike. but vitali is a smart fighter. he always has a good gameplan and the ability to adapt in the middle of a round. that is a somewhat rare quality. vitali by decision or possibly late round tko stoppage.

looking back at this stat comparison of their 20 first fights is interesting. it shows that vitali fought consistantly better opposition and has a higher ko ratio.

I'm not going to comment on the fight itself but I'll say this: Ike Ibeabuchi, although he never won a major belt, will be higher thought of in years to come than either Klitschko brother who HAVE won belts. Both Klitschko's have failed in one way or another, where as Ike never had the chance to prove himself further.

I'm not hating, I'm just being real.

So true. Ibeabuchi had huge potential whereas the Klitschkos lost early in their development and never really shook their negative images. People still associate Vitali with quitting and Wladimir with getting knocked out and it will always be that way until one of them unifies the belts. Why else do you think Wlad is fighting Brewster? He's trying to erase that particular image of being knocked out.

Ibeabuchi was dominant until the bitter end.

He knocked Byrd out at a time when no one else could even touch him. A year later, Vitali quit against Byrd and Wladimir failed to knock him out.

He also outslugged David Tua, something no one else has done to this day or could do.

Well there's not many people who have beaten Byrd or Tua, even to this day. Ike did it first when they were in their primes.

One more thing. Wladimir struggled to death with Sam Peter. Ike = Sam Peter WITH BOXING SKILLS. Ike destroys Wlad early and probably takes Vitali out late.

Nah. Wlad would kill this awkward, squared=up telegraph-punching hype job. It would be easy
