You are an idiot, Floyd was a killer in the lower weights.

True, but Floyd was still doing 350K PPV's prior to fighting Oscar. Rigondeaux would sell like 5K PPV's probably.

And even Floyd could draw 3-4K people while he was fighting at 130-135. That and he was a killer in the lower weights. The Manfredy and Corrales fights come to mind, and even the Gatti fight in 05' at 140.

I don't think anyone could hazard a guess as to what a Rigo PPV would sell like, but it would probably sell a lot more than you're saying. With over 300 million people in the US, I'm sure even Guillermo can sell more than 5k. Consider that many boxing fans simply don't have the time or the resources to jump on a plane and book a hotel room for a couple of days.

Didn't Hopkins-Dawson, not overly big names but recognizable ones especially in Hopkins case, only sold like 40K. Put Rigondeaux-Donaire on PPV or Rigondeaux against someone else like that, it probably sells like half that. I love Rigondeaux, he's one of my favorite fighters. But I can't change the fact he isn't very watchable when it comes to anyone not a hardcore fan of technical boxing skill. Even Mayweather, who at 130-135 was incredible, went in for the kill at times. I mean it was amazing when he dropped Corrales 5 times or whatever, and to watch him dismantle Genaro who was undefeated at 130, and kill Manfredy who was coming off beating Gatti. They're two different fighters, that's not Rigo's game, and it hurts his appeal a little bit.

floyd was overwhelming people at lower weight classes and had a high ko ratio top rank and hob should've tried to build rigo up on good cards first then let him headline after establishing a name before throwing him out there to sell out atlantic city rigo needs better match ups

There's no one like Rigondeaux past and present as far as conscious memory.

This post is dumb. Rigo and Floyd are NOT the same type of fighters.. I think Rigo just might be the most technical fighter EVER. By the way, you obviously never watched any old Mayweather fights and just posting about any random thought.. Mayweather Vs. Corralles was a great fight.. Mayweather has been taking dudes apart since day one. Mayweather does not seem to take too many chances, but he has had some good fights and has let his hands go. Mayweather Vs Manfredy.. Vs. Gatti.. Vs Hatton.. Corley.. None of his fights are like Rigo. Dumb Post..

Floyds style is a little more entertaining now because he stands in the pocket more but early on his style was unappealing to most.

Rigondeaux can just keep winning but it will take him a long time to really establish a fan base unless your a fan of master boxing. Floyd boastful personality helped his career a lot and then all of suddenly people started tuning in to see him lose.
Did you just start watching boxing or are you just plain ignorant? Floyd's early style was unappealing to most? He was one of the most exciting fighters at 130 and 135 when he was called "the Pretty Boy". What are you talking about? The skill he put on display against Genero Hernandez, Angel Manfredy, Diego Corrales was beautiful. He was an offensive machine in his younger days. Ever watch his fight with Phillip Ndou? Fucking masterful performance. You can't watch his fight with Arturo Gatti and say his style back then was boring. He was lighting Gatti up all freaking night. It pisses me off to read posts like this because they're just plain ******. Watching some early Floyd fights on Youtube or something.

You did not watch Floyd early actually his stigma as boring came later in his career not early. Rigondeaux is adjusting and has trouble getting good world class opposition out of there because even when he is dominating them is hard to get a guy out when he doesn't want to throw punches and is in Clottey mode.

Floyd was far more active at 130-140 than Rigondeaux is. He moved around a lot but always threw punches, was always doing something in the ring. Rigo is very laid back and often just stares at his opponent to wait til he does something. Both are great fighters though.

Mayweather's boring fights came in the span of 2006-2007. Where he was more of a natural LW fighting at 147-154.
