Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux's Co-Promoter Not Happy With Promotion

Caribe Promotions CEO Boris Arencibia, who co-promotes WBO/WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (13-0, 8KOs) is frustrated with his boxer being hit with the complete blame for the failure of last Saturday's fight against Josesph Agbeko at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The fight lacked action, most fans walked out before or during the fight, and the card drew poor ratings on HBO.

I like this. I like this a lot. If they put together a good card I'll definitely go.

blame everyone but the fighter,,,this isnt' the first time rigo has heard this about him being boring,,he got another chance on hbo and his opponent wasn't doing anything rigo could have done better, even his corner was telling him to be a bit more aggressive(that's what I read in another article,i didn't watch fight, just part of it)..I have no problem with guys fighting like rigo does,we don't have to watch them, which I didn't only like 30 seconds, but I have a problem with them fighting like that and then complaining about dates on hbo or getting paid better, this is a business and in order to make money they need exciting fights, good ratings, and rigo doesn't bring that,he had a chance to change that last Saturday and he didn't,he could have been atleast a little aggressive and try for the ko,but he chose not to

Man, I got pumped reading that last sentence! Let's do this, Boris! Bring the next damn fight to Miami. I'll be there, along with plenty of other Cubans and fellow fight fans! *Ric Flair "Whooooooooo!"*

That's total BS on ticket sells of 2500 for Rigo he couldn't give away 2500 tickers in Miami every body knows he doesn't sell. So suck it up

As a co-promoter, why doesn't he do any promoting himself and put all the blame on Bob Arum? Is he supposed to be paid for doing nothing?

he says "rigo could have thrown more punches but at the end the result would have been the same"...that's wherer he's wrong, yes he would have won but he would have looked good, landing more, hurting agbeko and finishing strong, making a good impression and that way of fighting would make him more appealing to hbo,i think rigo blew it satruday night and nobody to blame but himself,he'll probably keep winning and be good, but not good for business, which is what it all comes down to

This shows rigo is not a main event fighter.Agbeko is one of the
bigger names in the lower weight divison,And rigo ratings still bombed.
Looks like rigo gonna have to move up a divison.

he doesn't have the type of money and influence that he wants arum to waste on rigondeaux.

arum would make money off of this guy if he could. he's at least 33 years old, speaks no english, is cuban, and has a style that makes floyd mayweather look exciting to the layman. rigondeaux is the perfect storm of a great fighter who will never get great fights. the only way rigondeaux is going to get top guys in the ring with him is at 126 or 130 lbs.
