no if he retires he retires that's fair enough ... i've said that already in this thread u know? ... If he fights ward that acceptable, it's ward after all ... but if he fights somebody else still (unless it's something mad like moving up and fighting kovalev or sumthin) it's LAME.

Froch clearly didn't like Groves' public defamation and insults, if Groves continues to needle at Froch I can see Froch simply denying Grove another chance at the title and money to teach Groves a lesson in respect. Ironic how the nickname saint implies holiness and kindness when most saints in history were complete *******s - sorta like Groves.

What about a Kessler III (if Kessler decides to continue)? That fight would probably be richer than Groves II.

I think George's reasonably amusing attempts to variously irritate, embarass and corner Carl into a rematch will fall on deaf ears.

Firstly, there's no rematch clause (so no contractual pressure) and secondly Froch does not need the money. There's also the additional point that Carl is a thick-skinned character and is likely to brush this stuff aside.

I agree with other posters as well that the animosity Froch feels towards Groves could well lead to the scenario of Carl simply freezing Groves out because he can and he also knows it will hurt.

Would not be at all surprised if we get Froch v Chavez or the Ward rematch.

Carl loves the money just like every other boxer, he has a lifestyle to support, a materialistic bird, he cant box forever and has about 3 fights left in him to double his money. He could make anywhere from 5 million to 10 million for this fight, his biggest payday..period

Only reason he might not want it is if Ward fights him or he is genuinely is scared Groves might win this time and force him into retirement and Froch doesn't want to end his career at the hands of Groves - a guy who he said he hates.

His stans seem to be making excuses for him, the first fight was cracking, top fight of the year in my book, no reason why it shudnbt happen again.

I hope Froch mans up, otherwise he might as well retire and be remembered as the fella who ran away from Groves.

@FrankieBruno - thanks and agree with what you say up to a point.

The rematch really could and should happen, it has the making of a classic series. I want it to happen for one.

But Froch is already in a financially very good place and should we not rule out that if he does want to make some more; that Chavez brings some serious money to the table. He fills out big stadiums stateside, the Hispanic market remains colossal and Top Rank and Sky could make a killing on it.

I should state that I am talking about what I think might happen, rather than what I want to happen (ie Groves v Froch 2).

This is horrible news. I hope they find Froch's bottle, they should put out an Amber Alert for it.

The only desperation here is froch fans desperately trying to legitimize froch ducking the groves rematch.
Indeed it seems like ward is interested in a groves fight anyway and groves could also probably get a match up with stiegliltz ... so if anybody needs anybody its froch that needs groves, he just refuses to admit it.

                    Froch has basically 4 options:
                    1. rematch groves
                    2. get schooled by ward again (if he can make the fight)
                    3. Fight somebody else to almost universal disapproval (and probably be booted off sky PPV while he's at it)
                    4. Retire

groves on the other hand already has interest form big names ... and unlike froch he CAN fight ANY of these guys without disapproval as he has tried to make the rematch but Froch has run.
Froch has backed himself into a corner. He's just too arrogant to realize it.
He shouldn't, but he should of at the time, as it was a gift which most ppl think he lost, it was the best fight for him at the time in terms of money and 'bottle'. He is a hypocrite, which will only choose the path of what is best for his own personal gain, rather than what the fans want.
so i say let froch do whats best for him, he has given us outstanding entertainment, and has the best resume of recent times.
Through adversary of a far more skillful opponent, through unconsciousness and destructive power, bruised battered, he lifted himself up like Phoenix from the ashes ,marching forward smashed down poor georgies spirit , and won..he won. . If he wants to bow out giving life and death for a ward rematch,or a big payday i for one will stand to applaud his balls.

This is desperate from Groves but it's to be expected from a guy who knows that Froch is a meal ticket for him. It's also slightly delusional too. Yes Groves came into the fight with fury and put Froch on his ass! Yes Groves looked better, cleaner, faster, sharper for many rounds........but he could not finish Froch. That 9th round was the beginning of the end. Groves was all over the place when Froch put the pressure on then turned his back and coward away into the refs arms. Bad stoppage but if anybody tries to tell me Froch wasn't hitting his stride and couldn't have kept the pressure on for 4 more rounds I will tell them they are full of ****! Groves was saved from being KO'd.
