Comments Thread For: Groves Slaps Carl Froch By Questioning His Manhood

Super middleweight contender George Groves has fired off a slapping shot at his domestic rival, IBF/WBA 'regular' champion Carl Froch. They traded punches last month in a bruising fight that saw Groves drop the champion in the first round and then win most of the following rounds before a controversial stoppage in the ninth.

There is a heavy cry for a rematch, and even their mutual promoter Eddie Hearn wants to make it happen. But Froch, during a recent interview, said a rematch with Groves is "old ground" and he prefers to move forward in another direction - like trying to avenge his 2011 defeat to Andre Ward.

Nice tactics. I don't think he'll have to wait long for Froch to bite. He needs to careful though, if he overdoes it Froch might just deny him the payday and say he's fighting Chavez or Ward in the States.

No one wants to see Froch get outclassed by Ward again it was a terrible fight, and he is simply not good enough to have any chance of winning. He should either retire or fight Groves again for the big money.

Why should he rematch degale? He beat him in both in both the professional and amateur ranks ... how many times does he need to beat the guy? There weren't any controversial stoppages there AND there is also virtually no public demand for a groves degale rematch...

The only desperation here is froch fans desperately trying to legitimize froch ducking the groves rematch.
Indeed it seems like ward is interested in a groves fight anyway and groves could also probably get a match up with stiegliltz ... so if anybody needs anybody its froch that needs groves, he just refuses to admit it.

            Froch has basically 4 options:
            1. rematch groves
            2. get schooled by ward again (if he can make the fight)
            3. Fight somebody else to almost universal disapproval (and probably be booted off sky PPV while he's at it)
            4. Retire

groves on the other hand already has interest form big names ... and unlike froch he CAN fight ANY of these guys without disapproval as he has tried to make the rematch but Froch has run.
Froch has backed himself into a corner. He's just too arrogant to realize it.

Ginger bollocks still crying. This is the kid who refused to rematch DeGale after winning a debatable decision, who was ordered to rematch Kenny Anderson then pulled of some David Haye inspired ducking to get out of it.

Yeah but there was real public demand for Groves to face Paul Smith or Noe Gonzalez or any of the other countless bums he fought before getting to Froch.

As much as we would all love to see the re-match, I think there is morem oney to be made in fighting Chavez Jr. HBO ppv is worth more than Sky PPV, Froch Groves wasn't even picked up mainstream us channel. As a fan would love the rematch, but if I'm Froch, looking at business and payday, I'm fighting the mexican!
