Canelo was a huge factor, and that is just undeniable. And he would also be a huge factor in the excellent numbers a PPV with Cotto would pull in. 400-600k would be what I expect and these are great numbers and would be because it took both of their star powers and both the Mexican and PR fanbase.
Knew it... all of a sudden different for Canelo.
Yup, just as you said it doesn't translate to PPV, it all of a sudden does for Canelo.

So when he loses to Cotto is Canelo still gonna fight him? I wouldn't doubt it.

      "Then maybe"?

The more Martinez waits the older he's gonna get and the more GGG is gonna give it to him. Lol

$1.5mill was guaranteed for SM, $3mill for JCC. The fight sold 500k PPVs, this surpassed what the promoters thought it was going to be. 500k is more than $32mill in PPV revenue, cut that in half and add the gate revenue, there was like $20mill available for the fighters. Both Martinez and Chavez took homea lot more than their guarantee.

Are people really trying to argue that Sergio would make more money fighting Golovkin than Cotto or Canelo?

Its ok to say "I'm a fan of the sport, I don't care about the business side, I just want to see the best fights". Cool. I'm in the same boat. I don't care about the business side but I don't blind myself to the facts either.

But trying to say GGG can draw the same or more in Gate Revenue and PPV upside as Cotto and Canelo is ridiculous.

You understand that HBO/Showtime viewership will always be around 1.1-1.8mill, right? People just don't subscribe overnight. Views don't translate into anything at all. Let's see Golovkin be so big that he'd be in a big fights undercard and have his own arena in the U.S.

Canelo did 1.6 and 1.5mill with Matthew and Rhodes.

Canelo-Rhodes also did 36million viewers in Mexico.

How many viewers is Golovkin getting in his country?

Why do I have a Master's degree? Did I say that or are you intimidated by my simple Elementary Algebra?
