People jumped on me when I said Donaire was unworthy of being top 5 p4p or even top 10. He's just not that good. I'm sorry. Anyone with some boxing ability gives the guy trouble. You saw it with Vazquez, Mathebula, Rigo and now Darch when he actually tried to box him. Nonito is a limited fighter.
KO'ing montiel (the unified WBC/WBO bantamweight champion, ranked #1 at bantamweight, and who was ranked top ten p4p by ring) is what solidified his spot at the top ten p4p.... and mares struggled against darchinyan too and was even dropped! so was he exposed as well?
I'm just now getting over the flu on day 7 btw and I couldn't even walk let alone try to lift my arms fight for 9 rounds or whatever it was. Flu my ass, just a lame excuse by Donaire...
I said it a long time ago, domaine simply isn't as good as he was made out to be. Very good fighter, no doubt but he didn't have it in him to be great. Every time an excuse.
I believe him. Something looked off and not just style wise but performace wise... he was a bit sluggish, energy overall wasn't there. I think we can all agree that isn't the same Donaire we know OR EVEN the same Donaire who fought Rigo. Even though he lost against Rigo, his energy and effort were there. He was all over the place trying to knock Guillerma's head off.

I have never rated Donaire as a boxer. He's gotten by through size and a powerful left hook. I thought it was laughable that Donaire was in anyones P4P list. I'm happy that nonsense is over.
Oh and he may have called out Rigo but I'm going to take that with a pinch of salt. It is easy calling a fighter out when your promoter has zero intention of putting you back in the ring with said fighter.
