Same here. Sergio is my favourite foreign fighter and I called Murray a bum before the fight. I criticised Sergio for even taking the fight.

But he lost. Quite clearly. You can just tell by the posts of those who are trying to say Sergio won, they are trying to convince themselves more than anything. Stepping on feet, "illegal" punches, Sergio was fat, Sergio was injured, the rain LOL.

Why can't people just admit he got schooled

Lol i agree murray won but it wasn't a schooling it was a close fight. I'll be gutted for murray if he loses again to GGG because i really felt he beat sturm and martinez but GGG is the real deal. nobody is the same after you fight GGG!

He got schooled. He got completely outboxed. Murray negated almost all of his offence with a high guard. And then he landed clean, crisp shots up the middle. He hurt Sergio and knocked him down twice. Honestly, the rounds that Sergio won were pity rounds.

I don't think Martinez got schooled. I had Murray winning quite well over the last half of the fight though.

I picked Murray beforehand too. I love Martinez but age has caught up with him & the injuries too & Murray is a BIG Middle. I thought the fight would go very similar to what happened (surprisingly for me).

I can't really see him winning against GGG though but I hope a decent Scouse contingency makes its way out to Monte Carlo for the bout.

I can't remember the last time a British fighter had to travel abroad for three World title fights without any at home (especially weird when you consider Murrays visa issues).

The thing is that Martinez looked bad but opened and closed the show. He looked bad but even then some of the middle rounds were close. Martinez wasnt looking as good or solid but he wasnt being dominantly out punched. Murray was fighting in a manner that seeme he wasnt doing as much as he was and Martinez has the opposite effect. He's one of those guys who leaves an impression. Martinez CLEARLY won at least 4 rounds imo (first two and last two) with some in the middle being up to preference. For example I remember looking at some of the compubox (sue me I know) and was surprised at some of the number as it seemed Martinez had done more in the round and with some of the other where it seemed murray did more but Martinez statistcially was up there with him.

Murray landed a significantly higher number of power punches. Significantly

Thats exactly my point though. Murray concentrated his attack in a smaller amount of time and gave Sergio some freebies (first 2 were practically embarassing and he didnt close and thats the reason he was in trouble in the 12th).

Murray was putting in work but letting up too often. He was letting Martinez work the judges and though murray was pressing, his lack of killer instinct made Martinez seem like he wasnt being pushed back as much as it was him controlling distance. If Murray could have just pressed a bit harder or throw that extra punch at the end of his work rate it would have made such a difference.

Martinez lost a fight but he won the boxing match by working the judges and trying to negate murrays work with whats essentially trickery/illusion/flash/intelligence.

Ever watch a fight where youre like "I have so and so winning the match in rounds but he seems to have gotten his ass whooped overall...wtf how did this happen?" This is a good example imo.
