Who Do You Think Won Martinez vs Murray?

The bout between Sergio Martinez & Martin Murray in Argentina earlier this year.

I had Murray edging a close fight. Was I off because I was A - drunk & B - wanted Murray to win?

I'd appreciate your views on the fight. Thanks.

Murray quite clearly won. He outboxed Sergio and knocked him down twice.

i thought it was a close match Martinez made a good comeback towards the end n made it close, but i had Murray as the clear n better fighter that night

Martinez won a close fight. Turned out on towards the end as usual and that last round sealed it. But I think there was a controversial KD call (am I thinking the right fight?) which could have made the fight possibly like a draw or something? One of those like Timmy vs Prod or Garcia vs Lucas type things where the call/missed call could have swung the fight to a diff result.... I might need to fully wake up from my nap to rethink this post.... But Im almost positive I have the right thought and fight in mind

With the called KDs, Sergio.

If the second KD had been correctly called, Murray would have won. From about the 5th or 6th on, Murray landed the best punches in just about every round from what I remember, and the only rounds Sergio could have gotten were the ones where he was really active compared to Murray.

Martinez was very lucky to escape with that win.

Sergio won the first four rounds on workrate as Murray was shelled up the whole time. Murray picked up the pace in the middle rounds where he stepped on Sergio's foot to earn himself a flash knockdown and another "knockdown" was correctly ruled out after Murray hit Sergio behind the ear (an illegal blow). Martinez won the seventh and finished the last two rounds strong w/Murray holding to survive the final seconds.

Overall I thought:
Martinez won rounds 1-4, 7, and 11,12 clearly
Murray won 6,8, and 10 clearly
Rounds 5 and 10 could have gone either way

This fight could have been scored 116-111, 115-112 (as the judges had it) or 114-113 for Sergio Martinez.

It was a close competitive fight where Sergio's hand and knee injuries played a clear factor.

The day of the fight, most people on this site thought Sergio had won the fight.

I thought Murray won a close fight. When I score a fight I score everything. If I think a knock down happened I score it even if the referee does not call it a knock down. If the referee calls a knock down and I don't think it was a knock down then I don't score it. Martinez is a national hero and when he fights in Argentina it's like he gets about 3 extra points on the cards just for being Martinez. He will probably only fight in Argentina from now on.

Bizarre fight with the rain and timing. Also, Sergio looked weird, puffy and sweaty as though he was sick. His comparative worst appearance and performance since the Marg Ko.

Regardless, I had it for Sergio by one round, but a draw could have been fine.

Being 100% real though, all Sergio had to do was stay standing at the end to get the decision.

Had it 115-112 Martinez not counting the unofficial knockdown. Martinez certainly did not look his best but he won a competitive fight in my opinion.
