Who Do You Think Won Martinez vs Murray?

I see the Brits are really sour... If you score the fight round by round it's pretty easy to score it for Sergio 7-5. Murray did not have a winner's mentality, he was too passive in the first 4 rounds, lost the 7th (clearly), and was just trying to survive the last 2 rounds as Sergio closed strong. It was a close competitive fight, Sergio picked it up when he needed to and outworked Murray in most rounds and therefore got the decision.

When a poll was taken on the night of the fight, most people thought Sergio had won the fight. Murray himself thought he lost when Kellerman interviewed him.

If people want to see what a robbery looks like they should see Rios v. Abril and Martinez v. Cintron.

Sergio won the first four rounds on workrate as Murray was shelled up the whole time. Murray picked up the pace in the middle rounds where he stepped on Sergio's foot to earn himself a flash knockdown and another "knockdown" was correctly ruled out after Murray hit Sergio behind the ear (an illegal blow). Martinez won the seventh and finished the last two rounds strong w/Murray holding to survive the final seconds.

    Overall I thought:
Martinez won rounds 1-4, 7, and 11,12 clearly
Murray won 6,8, and 10 clearly
Rounds 5 and 10 could have gone either way

This fight could have been scored 116-111, 115-112 (as the judges had it) or 114-113 for Sergio Martinez.

It was a close competitive fight where Sergio's hand and knee injuries played a clear factor.

The day of the fight, most people on this site thought Sergio had won the fight.

Jesus man, dont gotta be so salty.

You're being irrational...like the Pac fans who hang on to the roid punch of luck of Marquez as if it was some bogus illegal move that he brought out of his yugioh deck.
All three judges gave Sergio 8 out of 12 rounds. The referee called a clear knockdown a slip. It was just shady all round.

Salty? I am a Martinez fan and I wanted him to win the fight but he lost. And lost decisively. The irrational ones are people like you and Bafana who have to make up a litany of excuses for Sergio to boost your argument.

Now Murray didn't have a winners mentality? LOL....what does that even mean? I didn't know boxing was judged on mind reading. I thought it was judged on clean effective punching which Murray dominated in. Not to mention defence and Ring generalship too.

Murray was Sergios ***** most of the rounds lol he covered up and took what he threw. He didn't win many rounds (around 3 at most imo) and fouled consistently

But he lost. Quite clearly. You can just tell by the posts of those who are trying to say Sergio won, they are trying to convince themselves more than anything. Stepping on feet, "illegal" punches, Sergio was fat, Sergio was injured, the rain LOL.

Why can't people just admit he got schooled
Martinez was so lost on how to get through the guard of Murray, and how to avoid Murray's punches that he resorted to crying to the ref about every little thing that happened. I became annoyed and i've never seen Martinez look so helpless and trying so hard to get points deducted from Murray. Luckily he got help from the ref and judges anyway, with the missed KD and bad judging. But that fight and the Barker fight which he did much better in, both showed that using tight defense against Sergio seems to befuddle him.

Murray was Sergio's b1tch by blocking most of his punches and then hitting him hard and clean in the face repeatedly? You fantards are unbelievable.

Did you include the two KD's there?

Murray said himself was very hurt in the fight and almost stopped in the 12th round and admittedly lost the fight.

Nail on the head. Even the Macklin fight where Macklin surprised everyone including me by boxing quite defensively, Martinez took a while to figure that out. People make excuses about injuries and age but its a style that gives Martinez problems. Of course he looks great against a face first stalker like Chavez Jr.

Murray made him look really one dimensional.

Making things up to boost your argument is another sign of fantardism

Murray stepped on Sergio's foot for the first knockdown, but it's the referee's call anyway. The second "knockdown" replay showed that Murray blatantly hit Martinez behind the ear. Also, if we're gonna go into should of could, would of, then we can also say Murray should have been penalized at least one point. If Murray wanted to win the fight he should have let his hands go from the start and not gone survival mode in the last two rounds.
