As far the Arum situation I wouldn't want that guy to make any money off of my name if felt he still owed me millions like Floyd says Arum does. Why should I help you make more money when you already owe me some.
Because whatever money Arum makes off of Floyd again, gives Floyd an opportunity to collect what he is owed.

Floyd can make money. No doubt about it. And tons of it. But he could make a hell of a lot more if he weren't such an emotional businessman.

"why should I help you make more money when you already owe me some."

That's stepping over dollars to pick up pennies. What that means is Floyd and to a certain extent you, would let a debt of 5 million stop you from making 50 million for petty personal reasons. Makes plenty of emotional sense, but makes no business sense.

How much did Jones get paid for the Ruiz fight? Serious question.
Yes, the fight was a demand. Hardly anything in the past decade or two could compare to Mayweather Pac but that still doesn't change the demand for Mayweather Pwill/Margarito fights. A lot of money was to be made for them during that time period. It just wasn't as mainstream but nothing will be as mainstream as Mayweather and Pac together.

I don't remember what Jones got. Outside of Mayweather, I couldn't care any less what fighters make. Talking about Maywather's money is just funny because he makes more than everyone else and that pisses a lot of people off. I find that funny.

The last time I talked to Roy and he mentioned anything about money was back in 2008 when he was talking about Calzaghe and the money he was going to make for that fight and not having Don on his ass anymore. He mentioned he made good money for the Ruiz fight but didn't give numbers. I didn't really care either way.

These boards back in those days had been legit.

The only thing that pisses me off about Floyd's money is that he could be making a lot more but does some really weird things. For example:

50 Cent invests in Vitamin Water and sells the asset to Coca Cola for $100 million.

Floyd, a pro athlete came up with some kind of sugary and fattening Lottery Soda and I have yet to find one bottle or can. And I do look for it at specialty candy and soda shops.

I was here in 2008. I couldn't take it back then. The signatures looked like music video nightmares. But it looks like they've cleaned this place up a lot since then.

Cleaned the place up? lol Far from it. I think you are harshly confused with another website. This site was a hell of a lot better back then.

Sometimes in business you have to know which deals to take and what deal not to. In reality with a 50-50 deal Floyd would make more money fighting Canelo than he would have for Manny since he had a larger cut. That PPV is at 2.2 mil and counting which in turn mean the Floyd Manny fight would have prob had to do 3.5 mil PPV for him to make the same money.

Well, I'm always paying attention to what they do with their money. Not so much the bling and car purchases, but their investments. I look at their successes and failures and apply what they did right and wrong to my own endeavors. Not just boxers, but anyone really.

I also look at what Pacquiao does and that guy is in dire need of a financial education. Also read a good interview with Amir Khan and that guy seems to know how to handle his money. He'll,probably make less than, but will have more money than Pacquiaonand Floyd 20 years from now.

But back to the original thread topic which was about Arum... I do think Arum is wizard of a promoter and Schaeffer with time will surpass him. Pacquiao vs Rios is coming up and I am really looking forward to seeing how the Chinese market reacts to big time boxing in their country.

The Canelo fight was good choice. I actually think the Canelo fight was planned back in 2009. They had mentioned Canelo, an unknown outside of Mexico as an alternative to Pacquiao. Next thing you know, Canelo starts showing up on Mayweather's undercards. Then, he's headlining on Mexican Independence Day with Floyd.

                    Just brilliant execution and marketing.

I do the same but not when it comes to most boxers or athletes who mostly rely on a skill set rather than real business smarts.

As for Bob, yes he is brilliant and knows all of boxing. He gets what he wants when he wants it. He's been doing it for decades. But like I said, his time is limited and I don't think that will be a bad thing either.
