this might sound silly, but it shouldn't if you watch enough boxing: a sustained beating is much worse for your brain than a clean knockout. pacquaio didn't take a tenth of the punishment abdusalamov took. he went 10 rounds at HW, eating huge punches from round 1 to 10.

many of the fighters that i've seen die as the result of a boxing match walked out of the ring.

he was passing out in the back of a taxi cab in new york city. i've been in a traffic jam in NYC after midnight.

he needed an ambulance to get him there quickly, and monitor and provide any temporary care that EMTs can provide [which is much better than whatever "care" he's getting in the back of a taxi cab.

his treatment was a total joke, and without a doubt should have been much better.

No doubt, but they're not God (turn of phrase).

Grinberg told RIA Novosti that a doctor told him that when Abdusalamov was first brought into the hospital after the fight, he was “100 percent sure” he would not live. Doctors have now told him that he has survived “100 percent,” Grinberg said.
he won't be the same, man. he suffered a stroke and a brain bleed. he's going to be lucky to get back to 100% just being a father, nevermind boxing at the world class the way he used to.
Yeah I wasn't suggesting he'd ever box again. Boxing doesn't matter any more. The hope is he can live a normal life.

Ugh, things seem to be getting worse with him every time I hear news. I hope he is able to recover enough to lead a somewhat normal life.

I'm concerned about the level of care he received at hospital. he had a blood clot so they induced a coma and reduced his skull...I dunno man, this seems like a major **** up from top to bottom.

Bad situation. Hopefully K2 and HBO will take care of his medical expenses.
