    - visible damage on fighter's face
    - fighter is slowing down
I agree with this, and in general people should stop whining when a HW fighter 'quits' or the fight is put to a hold by the corner or ref. HW has that extra brutality that needs to be taken into consideration by everybody involved.

I don't know if that's true, a lot of people felt he should have been pulled out earlier in the fight.

Agree, but it's not just heavyweights, it's any fighter. Some people complain about early stoppages, but at least they're able to fight another day, collect the cheque healthy and feed their family.

Hopefully Mago will pull through with no permanent brain damage. His corner failed him imo, maybe the referee too.

This is very sad news for the state of boxing. If only Mike Perez had a little more stamina and power, he could have gotten him out of there much sooner; Especially with the left side of his face being swollen as bad as it was. In any case, here's wishing him a very full and speedy recovery.

Damn bro. He probably spent all his fight money on that operation too huh? So he fought and almost lost his life for basically nothing?

            Hope he recovers well.

I'd like to think they had insurance for this kind of occurrence.

Medically induced would be a better way to put it. The doctors found a blood clot so they put him in a coma with his consent to avoid complications.

Last I heard he has had part of his skull removed and won't be fighting again.
