It was a great fight but at the same time I thought this fight shouldn't have turned out like this. Both fighters were taking inhumane punishment and Magomed seemed to absorbed hell of a more.
Personally I think if a boxer doesn't want to carry on then he shouldn't. I wouldn't view it as quiting. Better safe than sorry.

noboby loves being in a coma and likely ending his boxing career. guys who say that they would "die in the ring" are naive to the realities of a death in the ring.

its' not worth your long term health, man. boxing is a sport. a fighter's love of the sport is not more important than his health. that's a man with a family. i don't know if he's got kids of his own, but he's almost surely got family who care a good deal about him, and that's more important than boxing.

Fun to watch for the fans who complain about heavyweights but fighters who fight this way have no longevity at the top. Mago's career might be over already. I just hope he is OK otherwise. Like Lennox said, it's about hitting and not getting hit, especially when you're dealing with the power of heavyweight fighters. And Perez took quite a prolonged pounding himself. Neither may ever be the same.

Hope he recovers, that was a brutal fight. Needs a long break no matter what.
I was hoping the corner would stop it after the 6th but they are a bunch of idiots. His corner is entirely to blame. ****** idiots! Can't believe they let him go past the 6th.

I think it's one of the sports where it's better to be a fan than a participant.
