It's honestly only the "slick" fans that are showing major hatred for GGG. And it comes as no surprise when you look at the other fighters they spend their time hating.

Because they can't break down fights, styles and mechanics so they whine. Since when did critiquing and breaking down a fighter on tape become hating? Its the exact same thing GGG and his team will do sometime next week.

You do appear to be a little over critical to me Iron. Take Golovkin's defense and let us compare it to Hopkins. Punch stats for the Stevens and Pascal I fights.

        Pascal landed 67/202 for 33%
        Stevens landed 97/303 for 32%

Obviously Pascal is a higher quality fighter than Stevens but still in one of Hopkins best performances of the last several years Pascal landed similar numbers in spite of him only throwing 16 punches per round compared to Stevens 38 per round.

Not only is Hopkins credited for his excellent defense but more importantly he is defensive minded with that aspect of his boxing always taking priority. In contrast Golovkin is a very aggressive pressure fighter who throws 90 punches a round so when looking at it in that context i consider his defense rather good.

GGG has become the new Manny Pacquiao, humble guys who people hate on just because of fans? pretty pathetic to hate a fighter who is a good guy because of his fans, I can understand Floyd and Broner getting disliked becasue they themselves are arrogant, pricks.

GGG popularity is getting up there, they need to get him with Top Rank already, he has a 5 year window, he needs to capitalize on this did you see all the celebs in attendance?

Yeah, it takes extra skill to have good defense when you're the fighter coming foward, applying pressure. Throwing that many punches and getting hit that little is impressive, but these haters see it as a flaw that Golovkin doesn't run and hold and make for 12 round, boring decisions.

No thanks jeff on that one. They'd never let him come and fight in Monaco and around the world. It would be 2 fights a year prolly too.

I don't know about that one Weeb, Pacman is fighting in China now, so you never know?

Arum even said why is everyone fixated on the US, he mentioned that you can hold big fights overseas in europe and asia, that boxing is international.

It was golden boy promotions who knocked Arum saying that Arum is forced to make fights overseas now because nobody wants to watch them.

I just think Top Rank is the best at building fighters especially on HBO.

Nonito fought 4 fights a year under top rank. If GGG becomes a ppv star of course it would only be 2 fights a year, they have a budget.

I'm just pointing out the holes I see.

I think Golovkin's defense is much better when he's coming forward, he doesn't look natural to me going back or comfortable and seems to get hit too much when he does, for my liking.

I think he's a little too upright and stiff at times.

In regards to the numbers, Stevens really just didn't let his hands go, if he did he's have landed more and likely got knocked out much much sooner, which is understandable.

Whenever he threw combinations he landed combinations. He isn't the easiest guy to hit but from what I can see he isn't very hard to hit either.

It's really pathetic that people criticize GGG after he fights 3-4 times a year and has destroyed every boxer put in front of him. He doesn't duck any match-ups. Like he said after the fight, he'll take on anyone in his division. To say he's not elite because he hasn't fought people like Froch & Kessler who are naturally bigger boxers and not in his weight class is just plain ******. How many fights per year did Mayweather take on when his unbeaten record was similar to GGG, albeit without the knockout %? 2 at most, and the challengers were NOT elite. GGG is one of the most exciting and powerful boxers to emerge within the last 5 years or so of boxing. To hate him is to hate what is great about great fighters.
Another ridiculous claim I noticed here is that there shouldn't be an unbeaten boxer in the game because it just means he hasn't faced the right opponent yet. This is also without merit. Was Rocky Marciano any less of a champion because he was unbeaten?? I can understand criticizing an unbeaten record if you're intentionally ducking tough competition as per Mayweather, but GGG has NOT done that and instead has had trouble finding opponents because he is seriously dangerous and a cut above the large majority of fighters in his weight class. I was and still am a big fan of Sergio Martinez and I think he is possibly a slightly more skilled boxer than GGG but if that fight happens I can't see Sergio lasting the distance without taking some huge body shots unless he is in absolutely prime shape and I can't vouch for Martinez' body toughness at this point in his career. A lot of boxing fans seem to have a short memory but I seem to remember a poorly conditioned and poorly trained Chavez Jr almost knocking Martinez out at the end of their bout. What makes the GGG critics believe that a much more dedicated and at least as powerful a puncher as Chavez Jr. will take that long to get to Martinez' body??
