Possible. Mayweather got a rise out of fans when he announced that Alexander was going to be his next opponent. Everyone started accusing him of trying to dodge Guerrero, LOL.

Maybe he's pulling a similar move here.

Why is it that the same people that call him boring or overrated, care so much about who he fights? Quit complaining about the obvious...we know that he wants the biggest $$$ possible so that narrows the pickings down...Showtime can't put on Floyd vs (insert fighter name) with no serious fan base or a gimmick to help promote that fighter. Triangle theories don't work in fights but for the casuals that push the ppv's, it does! Canelo beats Trout, Lara beats Trout but Floyd beat the most popular one easy so selling Lara would be tough. I would love to see Floyd fight whoever (140-154) but I understand that companies want huge $$$ so a guy that could bring in 200mil trumps a guy who possibly brings in 80-90mil.

Only, I don't over rate him or find him boring. He is easily the greatest fighter of this era imo. I am a massive Mayweather fan but I draw the line at fan boyism.

Khan does make sense in regards to money but numbers will also drop in PPV as somewhat of a boycott effect. I am absolutely sure of that.

He will fight Khan at some point, maybe even in September 2014 but before or after that, who would you consider a 'good' or better opponent than Khan is the sense of revenue?

If he fights him now he still has that same problem come September. Who will 'deserve' or get the fight then?

Actually, Khan is not that well known here in the states, which is where the PPV revenue really comes from. The UK PPV might be decent but nothing like here.

The fighter of the last decade may have a say in that.

That's your opinion. "Well known" is irrelevant, numbers and projected numbers for PPV is more relevant, matchmakers are hell bent on putting the fight on. Again apart from Pacman no fighter brings the money to the table that Showtime and Mayweather wants. Moreover Khan is more loved over there than here in the UK.

                I don't think so.

I think Khan is absolutely being considered and all but ready to be announced until Maidana upset Broner (Something I doubt anyone over at Team Haymon was expecting.

                Now Maidana's in the mix.

To me, Maidana makes so much more sense than Khan and probably does just as good numbers aswell. If not more.

He'll certainly bring more Mexicans in for Cinco De Mayo and he just battered Broner on a highly rated showtime show. He's blazing hot at this moment.

People don't even really remember Khan at this moment.

I doubt Khan brings in more money than Maidana in all honesty.

Maidana is definitely hot at the moment, especially with the Broner connection "Beating little brother" and stuff, but I think this fight came out of the blue and a bit too soon. And I also doubt they would sell more than a Mayweather-Khan fight. Am sure Mayweather and Showtime are going over the numbers right now lol.

It's a common strategy they use. Leak out a really lacklustre opponent's name - Matthew Hatton, Spadafora, Paulie, Devon - and then announce another fighter who is an upgrade.

Saying that, I think it will actually be Khan this time.

if its khan, they'd have to fight on thanksgiving weekend.
